Now, can you look at the previous contract and this contract and figure out how much this guy is making? Good luck.

more rip offs, no attorney is worth that for being in attendance at a sewer board and storm water board meeting. Gahan is a bigger fool and idiot than england ever was and when the EPA hammers the city for the sewers again that party boy wont have a clue what to do
I was told Gibson made $240,000 last year under England.
This has to be a joke, right?
We wish it was a joke.
There is a better way. Lawyers and bar associations have recently turned to alternative, non hourly based, fee arrangements. They are usually based upon a flat fee or monthly retainer fee for all services regardless of time, or set fee for each increment of the legal service. The city would be well advised to abandon its insistence on the hourly billing and negotiate for other, more reasonable, forms of professional compensation.
Legal Beagle
Do the taxpayers not have a right to see his so called billable hours? The city should only pay for the value of the service rendered.
1:55, You would need to review claims through whichever Board he submits them through. I'm sure there would be claims under each board he has been hired to represent.
Thank you, Legal Beagle, for your opinion. The information you provided is spot on and should be adopted by this fair City.
Amen. If we dumped this stupid "billable hours" routine and if they'd stop pretending Gibson's a "contract employee" as opposed to a "city employee" and therefore able to be listed with the rest of the city employees when they tell who makes the most money and so on, then maybe there'd begin to be some transparancy here. Why that stupid Baylor's not all over this is beyond me. Oh, wait, yes, he's convinced himself that that dope is a PROGRESSIVE, like him. ROFLMFAO
Spot on Beagle. It's time to send Citizens for Accountability to investigate those/these billable hours. If anyone can get to the bottom of this it's them.
Great posting KT. Keep it coming.
If Gibson is a contracted employee for the city, why is he able to be on city insurance. Wow what a perk. Police and Fire employees have to report to work every day and put their life on the line to have the same insurance a contracted employee will be able to have who make's a lot more money and does a lot less work. What a rip off. And sit's behind a desk. Only in America
Gibson is a pi$$ poor excuse for an attorney and Gahan is worse.
6:49 AM - My husband worked his whole life as a contractural employee where corporate always outsourced the work. He made good money because he had to pay for our insurance and other things. He sure didn't get these kind of perks. What a crock.
Wait until he screws up with EPA.
Shane Gibson is making $75,000 for "working" 40 hours a MONTH. 40 hours a month, people. 40 hours. That's only if he has to work them consecutively and cannot log them concurrently. Otherwise, it's back to a 25-hour-a-month workload.
And this doesn't bother Baylor, who was all over Susan Kaempfer, one bit? A bit disingenuous favoritism on Baylor's part if you ask me.
40 hours a m-o-n-t-h. And he's a lousy attorney. Wow.
Great post on FOS. Good job!
That's not even counting billable hours 4:56. I am ashamed of this so called democrat party.
Throw them all out. We need another mayor anyone want the job?
Maybe you could go to law school....but that would require effort, time, money and brains. It is far easier to sit around and gripe.
"6. Gibson shall be permitted to participate in city health insurance programs and shall pay the costs associated with any participation."
Perhaps you all didn't read that quite right. Yes, he can "Participate" in the cities insurance, but he SHALL PAY the costs associated with any participation. Our tax money does not cover his insurance, he has to pay for it himself. The only advantage he gets is not having to look for new insurance.
I know at first glance I thought the same as you, but was in total disbelief so I read it again.
hey 7:41 pm, there ae plenty of silver spooned idiots that went to law school its just that shane is the poster boy for them all, what a joke he is, I bet the EPA is licking its chops waiting to chew him up and spit him out, party on shane.
baylor sucks
8:14 Are you sure ? I checked with a friend of mine that works for the city and she told me that any participation may mean he pays what all other employees pay. She said that is 10% of the cost and the city picks up the rest.
If he only pays 10% then how does that mean our tax money isn't being used? Thx.
He does only pay 10%
Who cares? This is not an issue. How would 10:39 even know?
Don't know about how much he paid, but I did find out what number he was in his graduating class.
Shane was propped up all the way through college and law school.
Oh, and there's one other thing. I was there when a certain group plucked Shane out of a group of young people to hone and make one of their next batch of golden boys. Why didn't they pick the smarter brother? Well, you might not know, but I do. I was there and I know how the whole thing started. They created this monster and have kept him going right along with their myth that he's the next generation of golden rulers of NA.
Now, I'm sick and tired of talking about Shane. On to some real substance. When's your next post, KT. This is entertaining.
Taxpayers do pay over $20K for his healthcare just ask around on the third floor like I did.
What I want to see is the executive order recending Doug England's Executive Order on the Insurance to ALL VESTED non-bargaining employees that they would be entitled to receive when they leave the cities employment. I was told it was done but the mayor seems to be too busy, or his secretary keeps out people that want to ask the mayor questions concerning the dismissal of certain employees.
Whatever the cost, Shane is worth every bit of it. He is an outstanding lawyer who gives his all for the betterment of our community. I'm glad that his efforts are being recognized, and that he is getting his just rewards for all of the time and expertise that he puts in. You complainers are just jeolous. Grow up.
shane is a sham
You little people need to adjust your hoods. You're cuttIng off all the air to whats left of your brains.
Finding out where someone graduated in their law class? Asking around the third floor for gossip? Really? Who are you people, and do you work? Do you take care of your children? I can't imagine you do, if you have time for this petty crap.
8:28 You're full of crap. Shane is a two-bit, lazy loser who has his hand out and who laughs at community efforts to make NA a better place to live. I've heard him laughing about people going to little bitty meetings and things. It's asinine to suggest otherwise.
P.S. I remember that Shane wouldn't give me the time of day. Until he ran for office. Then, he was in my office, smiling at me and calling me by name and making sure to stop in "just to say hello" to me, his suddenly great friend.
Shane's horrible.
Uh huh, 11:58. And I bet you had the balls to tell him how you really felt, didn't you. Oh wait, no? You didn't? You just talked badly behind his back?
Mmmm Hmm...that's why everyone in town looks down on this blog. You can't effect real change because you're spineless, sniveling complainers and nothing more.
your days are over baylor and baylor wannabes this blog is your worst nightmare, bye bye losers turn out lights the partys over lets drink some bud light and toast your demise, hows that for one of them thar high falutin college edumacated words from the bbq bolgna eatin little people, Jethro rules and you and your gahan crooks are toast
Everclear ruins lives.
4:35, So don't read this site Buddy. I wonder why the truth against Gibson bothers you.
Dream on Jethro 3:38pm. If I remember correctly Shane left my office with his balls in his hands instead of his pants. I told him he was unelectable, he didn't win did he?
Go UK!
The 'truth' doesn't bother me...the 'truth' is the two contracts, which are right there in black and white. I have no problem with either of them.
It's all of the 'well I heard...' 'Well I think..' that all of you here represent as truth that bothers me.
I've never met Shane in my life, and I couldn't begin to say anything about his moral character. The posters here- you all show your true, ugly colors daily.
Talking about Shane bothers me because I'd rather talk about something of substance. I have no jealousy of Shane and I have no desire to express my opinion of him. However, he IS boring. Move on to something else, people.
I agree. This is getting boring. Let's talk about some real criminal spending of tax payer dollars. Like the Prosecutor using our money to cover his personal legal fees. Now there's a greedy bas...you-know-what. And now we have to continue paying him, but also some other attorney to try the Camm Case AGAIN. All because he thought he could get rich off of other people's pain by writing a book.
Amen, 9:17.
The prosecutor is boring too. He actually does a pretty good job. Shane's not even close to being in Henderson's league.
They're both dull. Can't we talk about anything else besides lawyers? They're pretty boring.
i'm on bored with those calling the lawyers boring. they defintly are.
6:47, your not bothered about these two contracts? Your not bothered about the truth that he's made over a million dollars off us taxpayers the last 6-8 years? Are you just stupid or progressive? What cases have he won that has helped taxpayers? What the hell does he know about sewers and the EPA?
After reading todays Tribune on line, would someone tell me why Shane Gibson is writing parks ordinance? Why are we paying Robinson and Lorch? Who is the City Attorney? Does this fall under billable hours?
I think that there are a lot more things to consider that go into these contracts than just their face value. It's easy to take one sheet of paper, or one fact, and make a story around it- hell, look at the media these days. That's all the stories really are.
While I do want my government to spend my money responsibly, I also full well know that all of us have different opinions on what is considered money well spent. If there wasn't, there'd be no political divides.
What penalties/fees were avoided by having attorneys in various positions? Could there possibly be reasons that people here aren't aware of to do one thing or another within government? I'm saying there's much more to it, and folks around this blog like to hint around at just about everyone's lack of character, with no evidence other than their own grumblings or perceived 'wrongs'.
Perhaps there HAS been illegal dealings. But, just saying it here doesn't make it so, though many of the posters would like that to be the case.
Also, am I a progressive? I don't know. At Dictionary.com, I found the definition of 'progressive'- :favoring or advocating progress, change, improvement, or reform, as opposed to wishing to maintain things as they are, especially in political matters.
Yeah, I guess I AM a progressive.
I'm progressive too. I'm Republican and progressive. And proud of it.
My question is, why are we paying a sub-par attorney for ANY job in New Albany? Gibson messed up my sister big time. He's incompetent. End of conversation. I don't care if I'm a Democrat or Progressive or what, I don't have to agree that he's doing a good job because I don't.
I don't see how you can be a Republican and Progressive, but OK.
Shane seems like a pretty good guy to me. I don't know him well. I can't say if he is a good lawyer or not, because I'm not a lawyer and I have no way of knowing. I say give him the benefit of the doubt. It is too easy for people to get on here and make anonymous allegations without any basis.
Shane is a horrible lawyer. Poor guy should have stuck with basketball or something else.
maybe typewriter maintenance since he wasnt in class the day they taught law.
even more pathethic is gahan thinks he has a good lawyer in him, maybe gahan and shane were class mates in the school of arrogance and stupid
Stay classy, New Albany. Poster above me- I'm ashamed to live in this town because of people like you that just throw that crap out.
I don't really know what kind of lawyer he is but I do think that Shane is a gorgeous hunk. I for one would like to check out his briefs.
This is the best place as any to congratulate citizens for accountability and FOS for helping the UK wildcats to victory
Congratulations to Vicki Denhart who delivered another championship to Lexington
Mrs. Gibson, you HAVE checked out his nasty briefs.
Why do we waste time on here talking about this? Shane is NOT worth 60 posts.
Move ON.
There is no such thing as a "progressive republican"... that is an oxymoron.
drink another beer billygoat
I know some Republicans I'd call progressive. In fact, I know of one or two that are more progressive than most Democrats. Because of them, I can actually stand to vote for Republicans sometimes, and I never used to EVER. Some Republicans are the good guys. There's a progressive thought for you.
12:56 I am a local lawyer and Gibson is NOT worth what he's being paid.
I am a College Professor of Political Science, and I say that Gibson is worth every penny.
Off topic: I sure wish Baylor could stop asking the city for free bes. Now he wants a free tree planted in front of 1117 Spring. He sure got nerve asking.
I'm a professor at Brandeis School of Law. He's not worth a quarter of what he's making. And it was pretty easy for me to look up his class rank. Not worth it.
Name a progressive republican from current times. Which one did you support? There are none.
At Dictionary.com, I found the definition of 'progressive'- :favoring or advocating progress, change, improvement, or reform, as opposed to wishing to maintain things as they are, especially in political matters.
I know all kinds of Republicans who are progressive. Not all of them are. Just some. Be honest. You can name one, I'm sure, if you try hard, Roger.
Gibson sucks. Bottom line.
Surely the Easter Bunny didn't find that prick Gibson?
