ELECTION SIGN UPS - FINAL COUNTDOWN AND THE INFAMOUS TAPE

WE ARE WONDERING WHO ALL IS REALLY GOING TO BE RUNNING FOR OFFICE.  THE INFAMOUS TAPE RECORDING (LOCATED IN A SAFE DEPOSIT BOX) HAS SOME RUNNING FOR COVER.  ON THIS TAPE, SEVERAL PEOPLE CUT A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL.

I HAVE HEARD THE TAPE, JEFF GAHAN HAS HEARD THE TAPE AND STAN ROBINSON HAS HEARD THE TAPE.  IT LOOKS LIKE WAR IS ERUPTING WITHIN THE CURRENT SITTING COUNCIL MEMBERS.

HEY COFFEY, IS IT TRUE YOU ARE THE ONE HAVING PATTY WALKER RUN FOR OFFICE?  WHY, I BELIEVE IT IS.  AREN'T YOU A LITTLE BIT FRIGHTENED BY THIS TAPE COMING OUT?   WHY, I BELIEVE YOU MAY BE - - AND WHAT'S MAURY GOLDBERG GOT TO DO WITH IT?  HEE HEE.

A GIANT RIFT IS BECOMING LARGER AND IT IS GOING TO BE INTERESTING TO SEE WHO COMES OUT ON TOP CONCERNING THE WAR RAGING BETWEEN COUNCIL MEMBERS NOW SEATED.

BACK TO THE ELECTION SIDE OF THINGS, HOW COME A CERTAIN COUNCIL PERSON HASN'T SIGNED UP YET?  MY VOTE IS TO LET THE TAPE COME OUT SO WE CAN ALL SEE THE BACKROOM  DEAL(S) THAT WAS/WERE CUT!  THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE INVOLVED.  I GUESS THEY SIMPLY DIDN'T RECOGNIZE COFFEY WAS TAPING THE WHOLE THING.  THE ONLY PROBLEM IS, COFFEY DOESN'T HAVE THE TAPE ANY LONGER.

BY THE WAY, SHANE GIBSON HAS A NEW CONTRACT.  $50,000.00 SALARY, BILLABLE HOURS AND 2% COMMISSION ON ALL BONDS.  NOW HE'S HEADED TO INDIANAPOLIS TO TELL THE LEGISLATORS WHY ENGLAND DOES NOT WANT THIS NEW PARK DISTRICT.  ISN'T THAT WHAT YOU WOULD CALL A LOBBYIST (HEE HEE)?

WHY DOESN'T THE MAYOR GO AND STATE HIS CASE AND NOT MAKE US PAY FOR SHANE'S TRIP?  ENGLAND SHOULD BE RESTED UP AS HE JUST GOT BACK FROM FLORIDA.  GO  FIGURE.

SHANE, THIS LEGISLATION IS BECAUSE OF THE MONEY ENGLAND HAS ALREADY REMOVED FROM OUR PARKS TO BUILD THE "SWIMMING MONUMENT" AT COMMUNITY PARK.

THERE SHOULD BE A LOT MORE NEWS ABOUT THIS ELECTION MESS TOMORROW!

UNTIL THEN.

OMG! I sure would like to see that tape!

Anonymous said...

Listen, LOL! It's a humdinger.

Anonymous said...

Is that the only tape recording, or are there more?

Anonymous said...

Will they come out with the tape or won't they? The 2011 election will be won or lost based on this tape.

Why are tax payers footing the bill to protect Doug England? Why doesn't he accept that Shane lost?

What has Dan done now? All is fair in Love and war! Pay backs are hell!

Anonymous said...

This just might get a little interesting.

Any takers?

Anonymous said...

The rift you speak of seems large enough, yet our party just keeps hanging together by an invisible thread. I'm getting pretty sick of the discord.

So, what HAS Dan done now?

Anonymous said...

Same old down and dirty Dan. Except, he may have cut a few more throats than his own. It's going to be a sad situation for those who did not know he was recording the meeting. But, the DA he is, gave it away to a private citizen. Timing is everything when it comes to this tape. I'm anxious for it to be revealed to. I've had to sit on the information so long I almost forgot it existed.

Anonymous said...

You wouldn't believe a certain council person begging for the tape, to no avail. Live and learn who you are in bed with.

Anonymous said...

I'm up and just found this new post on here. I thought I couldn't sleep before, but now I'm really curious. When will this thing be revealed in full, Kitchen Table?

Anonymous said...

Surley England isn't dumb enough to send Shane up to Indianapolis!! I highly doubt even England thinks he's up to the task. Shane's already proven he has no idea what he's talking about. Guess I'll just sit back and watch tomorrow. What time's the big meeting? And where?

Ed Clere beat Shane Gibson because Ed is a smart guy with a conscience who acts on his own and not as anybody's toady.

Now, what's this stuff about Dan? What's he done? The one thing Baylor and I agree on is that Councilman Cappuccino is losing his grip. Uh, actually, he never had a grip.

So, what's on this tape? Who'd he give it to and why has it been hidden til now?

Anonymous said...

Dan is a dangerous person and never underestimate him. Because he is stupid he now realizes this tape is going to cut his throat.

All we can say because of the situation the tape is in a safety deposit box awaiting it's time.

Don't ever think Dan's not dangerous. And don't ever mistake he is aligned with England.

Anonymous said...

I don't know the house schedule to be able to tell you when the issue comes up. Sorry.

Anonymous said...

I guess I found out the answer as to when that hearing was at the State House as I saw it on the Computer.

My question is to the City Clerk. Why in the hey were you in Indianapolis with Shane Gibson on our tax payer dollars? What's up with that? Shane need you to hold his hand or what? Why on our time and our dime?

Anonymous said...

That's not what we pay you for Marcey.

Anonymous said...

I saw it all on the computer too. Was very interested in the parks bill and wanted to see what happened this morning.

What I saw was Shane Gibson calling Ed Clere a liar, more or less, by insinuating that he has never contacted the mayor. What I saw was Shane Gibson trying to make Ed Clere look like some sort of schmuck by making this about politics.

How on earth could Ed Clere have contacted the mayor when he'd gone to Florida? We all know, in the parks department, that Ed Clere talked with the mayor and was very up front about this. The mayor seemed then to like the idea, or at least to agree with it. Why would he do that?

And why'd he change his mind?

Ed Clere certainly cannot go around New Albany lobbying with every council member and every official in the England administration. That's England's job. Why didn't he do it?

It's some sort of pay-back time, I suppose, because Ed won re-election.

Watching Gibson's performance on live feed from the statehouse, I'm sure as h~ll glad I didn't waste my vote on him. His arguments were weak and whiny. And he accused Clere of mishandling the parks bill.

What a piece of work.

What a messed up city we live in.

I didn't see Marcey on the video, but if she went up there with Gibson, then that makes me doubly angry. Why on earth are we paying our City Clerk to go up there and hold our City Attorney's hand?

Yup, we're messed up around here. Vote 'em all out of office. PLEASE!

Anonymous said...

Well, I got a call from Marcey this morning after the whole thing was over. There's a real effort going on to ruin this thing for the parks and it's all just pay-back to Clere, like 6:42 said. It's a crock of sh~t!

It's a good bill. Needs to pass. And England needs to keep our city employees in New Albany, not traipsing around Indianapolis trying to do his dirty work.

Gibson said he missed an earlier hearing on the bill because he doesn’t read or subscribe to the local newspaper, which has published several stories on the bill, including a column written by the bill author, Rep. Ed Clere, a Republican from New Albany.

“I don't get the (New Albany) Tribune, I don't read the paper,” Gibson said.

ROFLMAO – The City subscribes to the paper! Ask the Mayor, Controller, and the City Clerk to share their copy with you.

Exclusive (somewhat) news here:

Zurschmeide and Harry Harbison signed up for at-large; alongwith Baird, Baylor, Gonder, England and someone else.

Jamison Bledsoe has signed up 4 the 3rd and I hear Goldberg is too.

Denhart has signed up to run against Dan Coffey; alongwith Timberlake.

Malysz' poll came back and said he was unelectable so no Malysz in the race. England has now jumped back on Stumler's wagon because of that.

All in Saturday's paper.

(There are 2 running for City Clerk, Glotzbach and someone else).

did the city get a new attorney?

the following was in the cj

"Clere suggested he could call the Capitol Police if there was a problem and the argument subsided with Gibson and New Albany City Attorney Marcey Wisman heading to the elevator."

Anonymous said...

Yes, in fact, Gibson's bony finger got mighty close to Clere's face. I didn't know but what he might hit him. It was a good thing Clere said he'd get the police.

In the first place, Clere didn't call Gibson a "liar." In the second place, Gibson intimated that Clere had lied also. Can't take the heat, yet he's gonna run again for state rep!

ROFLMAO.

Anonymous said...

if you read the CJ article it's not nearly as juicy as you pretend it to be. hardly a fight. and they call got on the elevator together afterward.

I have a question. I'm having my third cup of coffee reading the Tribune on line. I want to see how many of you caught this statement as I did.

"Most of the candidates on the ballot we know, although there are a few new ones."

Anonymous said...

within the same nash rhetoric he says. "Why does the administration have to beg the city council each year for money to pave the streets?"

duh nash, because the adminstration keeps over spending the budget. there is not an unlimited supply of money as some act as if there is.

Anonymous said...

i would like to see price's ideal budget. would we have half the number of police?

Anonymous said...

Is Randy Smith writing his columns? Sounds like it. One of Coach K's rules is that you have to write it yourself. Why would he allow Nash to use Smith's words? Also, those guys are awfully chatty on Twitter. Awfully chatty. Do they actually think that the entire world wants access to their made up lies and character assassinations?

For shame, for shame....

Matt Nash said...

Why doesn't "your councilman" write a resolution mandating paving streets each year. He could include how the bidding process will work and the criteria for picking the streets most in need.

Instead he just sits back and votes NO! each time.

Maybe he doesn't think that our streets need paved?

I know that the streets need paved. I ride all over this city and have seen their condition.

Last year they debated for three months, when they finally voted for it all the companies had commitments for another few months they didn't get started until about October.

If this is the way you want your city government to run keep on voting for "your councilman"!

Anonymous said...

maybe you're just to ignorant to realize that the council is tired of the admin over spending. where is your gripe with the that, i guess you see that as ok. that is the real problem. how can they feel comfortable setting aside money when they dont know how much is going to be needed to cover all the defict caused by the admin out of control spending?

Anonymous said...

the admin could fire every single person on the third floor and there'd still be a budget deficit.

TELL US WHAT YOU'D CUT!

the council has approved the police and fire contract time and again.

I believe it is the ADMINISTRATION'S job (Board of Works, Planning, etc) to prepare the list of roads needing paved and to go to the Council for approval. IF THEY NEED A RESOLUTION to do their job then the Council needs to step in.

THE COUNCIL's job is to appropriate the money (or I should say what little we have) for the job of paving streets. Where do you come off with it being a Council Person's problem? Do you not know how government works or trying to make someone look bad? Makes you look bad, personally. TELL THE ADMINISTRATION TO PAVE THE DARN ROADS and have them ask Council for the money. THAT IS THE ONLY CLAIM TO FAME THE COUNCIL HAS - the money and trying to keep it from being misappropriated.

There, I feel better.

"Shane Gibson wrote:

I had no intention of making an issue about the publications I read but since the staff at the New Albany Tribune thinks it is news worthy, I will respond. I don't subscribe or read the Tribune on a daily basis. I do, however, subscribe and read the Louisville Courier Journal daily (Sorry Tribune)."

Mr. Gibson is it not true that the mayor's office and other city offices receive a copy of the Tribune and it is available for you to read? Could you do the citizens a favor and start reading it daily so you can be better informed? There have been some great articles in the Tribune lately concerning not only the parks, but also about hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid parking tickets and sewer bills that you should make yourself aware of.

Anonymous said...

Poor Shane. It was really kind of mean for Doug to send him up there. He did a terrible job, from what I read online. I'm cutting and pasting something that I didn't write, but it tells the story.

Gibson spoke first. He did not, as he has stated here in New Albany, argue that the bill is unconstitutional (even though he made a quick comment that he might question its constitutionality). Instead, he said that he opposed the bill because he 'had little knowledge of it.'

That IS an outright lie because I happened to have seen a three-page document on NA City letterhead that he wrote to Rick Fox saying that the bill is unconstitutional and that he intends to fight it (as city attorney under Mayor England). Any attempt by Shane Gibson to pretend he knew little about the bill is 'disingenuous, if not an outright lie,' which is what Clere said.

Clere did not call Gibson a 'liar.' For the record, it did not happen. It's probably on tape at the statehouse.

Furthermore, for Shane Gibson to drag himself and Marcey Wisman up to the statehouse to argue that the he and city officials oppose the bill because they didn't know about it is pretty weak. He stood there, hands behind his back, looking very nervous and gave a weak argument. Let me say that I would never hire this guy to serve as MY attorney, and I'm ashamed, after seeing him in action, that we pay tax dollars to support him in this role on behalf of the city.

Gibson's admission that he, the city attorney for the city of New Albany, does NOT read the New Albany Tribune...well, it's outrageous! And I see that he's posted a comment that he takes the C-J. Wow.

Anonymous said...

Interesting post, 10:33.

I happen to know for a FACT that Clere DID contact the Mayor. They talked about it before the bill was drawn up. Again, Gibson lies.

Anonymous said...

Is Goldberg running unopposed for City Clerk? Thanks.

Anonymous said...

In the meantime, certain locals are burning up online hot spots trying to decide if Clere's running for mayor.

MAN, they're obsessed.

ROFLMAO.

Anonymous said...

All I can say is God Help Us All. Amen.

Anonymous said...

Am I mad as hell, like the Tea Baylor said "Do I have all the answers? Hardly. If by chance I’m elected, will I take dictation from existing power elites? Unlikely.

But I’ll learn as I go, just like anyone else. The point is that I’m willing to learn, and it’s time to start saying “yes.”

Just what we need someone who wants to just wing it and has established their platform as "I'll learn as I go"

Hopefully our other candidates will have a real platform and experience to bring to the table.

Anonymous said...

Someone told me to get on here and read all this. Never been on here before so sorry if I repeat or don't follow some rule, but I've read through a lot of chatter online today and thought I'd call some of it to a halt if I can.

There is no reason on earth why State Representative Ed Clere should have to go around calling people to remind them about a hearing that they knew all about, had been chatting about online, and had been swearing they'd go to if they had to. However, that first meeting, they didn't think they'd HAVE to go because England called up there and asked for help in assuring the vote to go his way. It is absolutely asinine for anyone to believe for one minute that England, so very interested in this parks money, had NO IDEA when that meeting was to be.

As for Clere, he has no duty, no suggested duty, no implied duty, to call people who create an adversarial environment for him, to especially invite them to attend a meeting. He had done his job when he got together with England in the first place.

I don't tweet or facebook or blog, but when people sit here and show me this stuff, it makes me think that somewhere, someone ought to get out a word of T-R-U-T-H.

If Shane Gibson went up there and gave a weak appeal, then he did do a poor job. If he had truly intended to oppose this bill on ITS MERITS ALONE, then he should have simply done that, and not mention past elections and whine about some bogus dearth of information.

It is ridiculous that while I'm across the river trying to do my job, people are telling me that you people can't act like adults and ask me what's going on in my hometown. To be completely truthful, I don't know because I don't get it.

I won't get on here again, so go ahead and say whatever you want in response. Or don't. But a word of truth is required in New Albany. Somewhere. You people are the biggest babies I've ever heard of and I think I'm quitting the Democratic Party come the primary election.

The problem with these two, Shane and Marcey they are bitter because they are both unelectable.

Blame it all on Obama if you like but the democrats got your number.

To Mr. Gibson, you made a $150,000 and could not afford a newspaper?

the truth doesnt die:

office space - no, free space provided by city. 3rd floor, see for yourself.

withholding taxs - yes, same as he did while in private practice

insurance - no, city provided health insurance

office supplies - no, city provided. check the budget for legal department.

legal secretary - no, city hired his secretary from his private practice and pays all her salary and benefits. not him

$70,000 in other expense - BS

try and dispute these facts or better yet lets ask marcey she doesnt lie. these facts correct marcey?

Uh, no. Again. FALSE.

Marcey said...

So, Jane, you're saying I'm weak minded? Who's to say that I'm the one in an alternate universe? Who gets to make that decision? Are you making the judgement because I disagree with the language of a bill. So, does that mean that everyone who disagrees with any council bill lives in an alternate universe.

Also, if I were to say that your comments are "disingenuous, IF NOT AN OUTRIGHT LIE", am I not calling you a liar and questioning your integrity?

But you are right, this isn't about who called who what, or if Shane prefers the Courier over the Tribune, how much Shane is paid, or how much of that pay goes to him or expenses, or if Shane needs me to hold his hand; it's about the merits of the bill...the actual bill, not what people have been told about it. I've read the bill, and I have issues with the bill. Does that warrant me putting up with character assassination from anonymous bloggers, or patronizing questioning of my state of mind by someone I don't know?

4:09 - Floyd County Parks is the point. The Park Board along with Clere have the parks and the citizens as their priority. The Park Board was appointed by England and by County, and the citizens elected Clere. Don't see why Gibson has a problem with the Park Board doing what England appointed them to do and Clere doing what the people elected him to do, looking out for the best interest of the citizens of this community.

Anonymous said...

marcey the question was does shane receive free office space on the 3rd floor from the city? does the city pay for his office supplies? does the city pay for his health insurance? did the city hire his legal secretary from his private practice and pays her entire salary including benefits? we ask that you set the record straight, since we know you won't lie.

Mark wrote:

I'm shaking my head in amazement. The facts are:

1. Ed Clere came up with a bill to restructure funding for the parks in Floyd County.

2. He spoke with a number of city officials, including the mayor and deputy mayor and I don't know who all else, and they gave the bill a nod.

3. All of a sudden, there was some sort of fervor about it and Gibson wrote a long sort of memo, saying the bill was 'unconstitutional.' He sent this memo to everyone BUT Rep. Clere, so let us be clear about who is not communicating with whom.

4. Gibson, apparently bolstered by local Democrats who are still licking their wounds from Clere's having won two elections, was dispatched to challenge the bill, along with Marcey Wisman.

5. Clere, who had already spoken with the mayor, etc., and who had already written quite a bit of information in this publication, was in Indianapolis, working as your state representative.

6. The meeting yesterday morning began with Gibson speaking FIRST, and not in rebuttal to anything Clere said.

7. Gibson argued that a) he didn't know much about the bill because b) Clere had not communicated with the mayor's office. This was his entire argument, that Clere hadn't given the mayor a reminder phone call.

8. Clere rebutted, saying that he HAD been in touch with the mayor in the beginning and that he had written about the date, time and other pertinent information in this publication.

9. Gibson demanded another turn at the podium (the chairman had already said that each would get one turn), and during that turn, Gibson stated that he does not read the New Albany Tribune.

10. Clere's bill passed out of committee 8-4 and will be heard in the House, at least, and possibly the Senate.

11. Clere has quietly continued doing his work in Indianapolis.

12. Gibson has been all over Twitter and everywhere else, including this Tribune comment section, telling everyone everywhere that 'Yes. Yes he did [call me a liar]. My Representative called his constituent a liar because I don't agree with him.'

Need I comment more? Frankly, Gibson indicts himself here. He did a shoddy job of representing the city. His argument was very weak. He whines and fusses about some imagined mistreatment, while, from all accounts, it was HE who went after Clere in the hallway afterward. Why do we pay this guy to be our city attorney? Because he was nurtured from a young age by our party to do precisely what he's doing: wasting our tax dollars so he can make sure to keep us in control of those all-important tax dollars.

All of the people who have been on here saying they're quitting the Democratic Party, I'm with you. This is the kind of stuff that goes on around here that makes me sick.

Thank you, Representative Clere, for being such a solid and honest and reliable guy. Thank you for putting up with all they've dished out. I won't be a party to it any longer.

Actually, Marcey, no. Saying that something someone is saying is "disingenuous, if not an outright lie" is calling someone on something they've said, right then and there. It is NOT the same thing as calling someone a liar.

I have never heard Ed call Shane a liar, nor does he go around talking about Shane like Shane apparently does about Ed.

You seem to have no trouble with Shane's conduct outside the meeting room, when, according to witnesses, Shane jabbed his finger toward Clere's face several time, repeating, "Liar. Liar, Ed. Really?" and so forth.

It is myths like this, concocted when one is actually in the wrong but try to make themselves sound completely innocent, that sit badly with me.

Unlike many people, I've seen Shane in action and consider him a lame sort of lawyer, even though I like him and get along well enough with him. He's been nice enough to me, but I've also heard him say ridiculous and angry and bad stuff about Ed Clere that make him sound like a sore loser. I've cringed whenever I've heard it, not that it's been that often because I don't stand around and listen.

Enough said.

You too, 6:20. All this stupidity makes me sick too.

Counting the days until they're all out of office.
Don't let the door hit you (Shane and Marcey's) ass on the way out.
Good riddens!

What I would like to know is why the City Clerk tweets and blogs during the day while at work using our computers and cell phones on our dime? One State has rules it is illegal for the City as a whole to do these activities. I guess I realized it when I saw Daniel S.'s tweet answering Marcey. Aggravates me.

And why the "nicest guy you'd ever want to meet" is behaving in a very unprofessional manner by getting on the Trib and trying to defend himself. No matter how much reassurance he looks for from his friends, he simply lacks class.

As for Marcey, she's no class act herself when she blocks out her boy's name so there's no record of it (when he paid-and to his credit, he did pay, after finding himself in under fire) that he had THOUSANDS of $$ in parking ticket fines.

Then they go on and on about how horrible we are for protecting our names/jobs by writing as anonymous. I'd say it's a lot more serious HIDING delinquent records.

Talk about "disingenuous..."

marcey, did gibson have hundreds or thousands of $ in unpaid parking tickets that were later paid? we ask that you set the record straight, since we know you won't lie.

Marcey said...

Shane has had 3 parking tickets and has paid them all, and if you don't believe me you can come to my office and we will pull the record for you...that is a public record. As to the accusation of HIDING records; can't be done with the new system. Once a ticket is downloaded from the electronic ticket writer into the system by the traffic division it cannot be eliminated from the system.

I'm with you 7:08 not buying it either.

Nope. I'm not either. We eye witnesses know better.
