Just read in the tribune this Matthews guy, the GOP head in floyd county, whining about how the teachers in NA-FC schools campained at school and during meet the teacher night to oust bennett from the state position. Man those GOP guys love to whine and cry when they lose. He fails to mention that bennett is applying for the same position in florida. He really cares about indiana jumping ship to florida. If he doesn't get that job " which i think he wont " he might be able to get a job with Bobby Petrino at Western KY Hilltoppers football teaching all the players who have trouble graduating. Actually, as a Floyd Central parent, I can tell you that I heard nothing but complaints from some teachers about Bennett. It was pretty obvious they were making him this year's target. Two years ago, it had been Clere they would gripe about. I got into it with a couple of them one day, citing the dozens of things they were saying that were outright false. It came out in that case, that the union had simply banded together its "machine" to try to get rid of a Republican, and, even though I've been a Democrat my entire adult life, I decided to vote for Ed Clere BECAUSE of the lies and the attack they levied against him.
I suspect the same thing happened here, only I didn't pick up on it. I heard simply that Tony Bennett had announced at a meeting of superintendents that as soon as the election was over, he would begin to implement a plan to get rid of music. Just read in the tribune this Matthews guy, the GOP head in floyd county, whining about how the teachers in NA-FC schools campained at school and during meet the teacher night to oust bennett from the state position. Man those GOP guys love to whine and cry when they lose. He fails to mention that bennett is applying for the same position in florida. He really cares about indiana jumping ship to florida. If he doesn't get that job " which i think he wont " he might be able to get a job with Bobby Petrino at Western KY Hilltoppers football teaching all the players who have trouble graduating. There is no election for that position.

Actually, as a Floyd Central parent, I can tell you that I heard nothing but complaints from some teachers about Bennett. It was pretty obvious they were making him this year's target. Two years ago, it had been Clere they would gripe about. I got into it with a couple of them one day, citing the dozens of things they were saying that were outright false. It came out in that case, that the union had simply banded together its "machine" to try to get rid of a Republican, and, even though I've been a Democrat my entire adult life, I decided to vote for Ed Clere BECAUSE of the lies and the attack they levied against him.
I suspect the same thing happened here, only I didn't pick up on it. I heard simply that Tony Bennett had announced at a meeting of superintendents that as soon as the election was over, he would begin to implement a plan to get rid of music. The way it was worded, I fell for it, but realize now that it was a big, fat trick, just like the crap they said about Ed Clere claiming he was against teachers.
It's made me pretty cynical, I'll tell you that, and it's made me begin to suspect, of all people, TEACHERS of being dishonest and conniving.
I can't stand Matthews, but if he said that, then he probably hit upon some truth. Probably by accident.
Ed Clere is against public schools and the people who work in them. Tony Bennett is interested in selling our schools to make money. At least one of those two got voted out.
If you think the JOKES that run the NAFC teachers union didn't campaign to get Bennett removed, then you're sleep walking through life. I didn't like Bennett either but I witnessed teachers making comments and union reps making it clear that Bennett had to go. Often pressuring new teachers to get on board even before they viewed the facts. I only hope the schools get it together because there will be no Bennett or Daniels to blame if they dont.
It seems that people have a hard time being accountable in their positions. Change and accountability is good for America. When Prince William visited, a comment was made about our country that we our greedy. I have to agree. Keds our slipping through our system everyday. Why not shake things up a little bit. Everyone gets a little too comfortable in positions and cannot even see it for themselves. Also bullying has became a way of life in our keds life and even with some grown ups. Just look at our city government it to is shameful.

How can schools with 97 percent of kids passing state test get a B and schools with 70 percent passing get an A? It is meaningless. Time to stop testing ALL of the time and let schools do their jobs. Not one of the so called reforms was even proven to increase student learning. They do make lots of money for testing companies though....
The teachers didn't like Dr.Bennett because he was making them actually work for a living. I know there are some good ones, but so many of them are lazy loafers who spend all of their time counting down until the next school break.
