Going, Going, Gone!

There seems to be a lot to talk (or gossip) about.

Have you heard Gahan wants to pass a $14 million dollar bond for a Little League Park and swimming pool?

Have you heard Coffey and Gahan have made a pact?  If Coffey supports the split of the Parks the west end children can swim free at the pool?  Does that even make sense?  I've heard Coffey is carrying on about this fact, but wouldn't you think all disadvantaged children should have a pass to the pool?

As an NA resident, I want no part of this if true. Those of us who work hard and pay taxes should have a voice in matters such as these. I would not be surprised however if this was being considered as the ultra-liberals who currently run the city are for sucking up to those who contribute little or nothing to society. I'm sure the poor little west end kids can afford a small admission fee to a city pool. The patents only need to sacrifice McDonald's, sodas, cigarettes, cell phones, lottery, alcohol, tattoos for a day. If not, Dan can pay their admission.

Santa Claus of deceit, Dan lies, cheats, and steals from people. If his mouth is moving its a lie. He was taught by the England regime.

dont forget the illegal mexicans etc. they should get to swim free after all look at that incredible swim they had in the gulf of mexico. We owe it to them.

Concerned NA Citizen said...

No one should get to enter a swimming pool paid for by texpayers for free. You will waste 14 million dollars for nothing. The city is cutting services all over town and they want the expense of keeping a community pool up. You see what happened to Camille Wright. Major Investigation needed if this really happens. But thats why they call is gossip

Concerned NA Citizen said...

And 12:34. You will not have a say over this project. City and federal government doesn't work like that. You pay your taxes and be a good little citizen and the people voted into office spends your tax money the way they like. Politics 101 at it's finest

OMG! $14 million for a pool and little league fields to be financed with a bond?

Why another pool? Didn't the city and county (the taxpayers) pay for the aquatic center located at the Y with EDIT money? Isn’t there an agreement that requires the Y to allow city and county kids to swim at the aquatic center for free based on need in exchange for the city and county paying for the aquatic center? Why are we going to spend more of our tax dollars to build another pool when the city has already paid for a very nice one?

Now what is up with the little league fields? Why is the city going to build and pay for ball fields? We keep hearing from the city administration that the city paid $4 million more towards the parks than they should have because the county did not pay their fair share. The city administration has yet to explain to their citizens how they allowed $4 million dollars to go undetected and uncollected for so long! The city’s neglect in failing to detect this shortage ended up costing city taxpayers $4 million! At this point in time it appears the city will never recoup this money. The city owes the citizens an explanation and should be looking for ways to save the city taxpayers the $4 million that it lost, not looking to make the taxpayers spend another $14 million. Here’s an idea. Let the county pay for it with the money they owe the city! Tell those with the little league that the city neglected to collect $4 million from the county and so the city just doesn’t have the money. Send them onto the County with their funding request.

As for the bond issue, it almost sounds like a plan that was concocted by a couple of attorneys so they could make some more money off the city taxpayers.

Seems like Gahan wants nothing to do with anything England had his stamp on. Amphitheater, Farmers Market, Pool Complex...even if they make sense.

Anonymous said...

You all are right. NA does not need an outdoor pool. We don't need adequate ball fields either. Our kids can go to Clarksville, Jeffersonville , or Corydon for that. We don't want to spend any money! Let's keep giving extra cash to the county though.

Concerned NA Citizen said...

1:19 I disagree. Little league fields are needed. With gas prices at all time highs it's not right to make people drive to Jeff, Clarksville or Corydon. Plus when tournaments are held it draws in a lot of people to feed money into the local economy. Now a pool i agree. They can go to Clarksville or louisville or Corydon to swim. But little league parks are a must.

Anonymous said...

Yes, have the county tear down the annex building on grantline road and build the little league fields there.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I heard that Coffey and the mayor met on the floodwall at midnight and signed he pact in blood. You people are so F*^&) stupid.

Anonymous said...

Downtown fields flood. The high school is thinking about building a new one or expanding theirs as they have one of the smallest facilities in southern Indiana. The school system owns the land where the little league parks are located.

Anonymous said...

they need a downtown water park because Gahan thinks he can walk on water, Jesus Gahan

Anonymous said...

Yep it's true Dan Coffey told me too. That he cut a deal with Jeff if he let the West end kids swim free he would be the VOTE to split up the parks. Ask him yourself if you don't believe me.

Anonymous said...

Gahan is planning on putting the Ball Park at Hoosier Panel.

Concerned NA Citizen said...

The ballparks in clarksville are great and draw a lot of money to the local ecomony. I hope if the city goes this route they build a nice complex and don't half ass it. That would be fields for little league baseball and girl's softball. 4-6 fields in the least. Maybe more. But we will see what happens

Anonymous said...

I think baseball parks are GREAT! I think they're needed. But break up the Parks Department? That's pretty dopey.

Gahan wants nothing more than to make his mark on New Albany and to be different than England. All he has to do is not show up drunk to events like he always does. THAT would make him classier than England. He really didn't have to do this drastic act that sent a vicious message to people in Floyd County (which, by the way, includes New Albanians).

Anonymous said...

4. Million. Dollars. That's the amount that the County fell short. All of you pissing and moaning about the split- where were you when the county wasn't paying its share? I just don't get this. I really, really don't.

Anonymous said...

Hey Coffey remember your the veteran going on 16 years. Your leadership sucks like it always has. By the way Dan your excuse is I always did what the mayor told me to do. Simon says!

Anonymous said...

Just saw Tony Bennett commercial. He is not the education savior he pretends to be. He is selling schools to the highest bidder.

Anonymous said...

What about the monies owed to the sewers and EDIT Fund? Are they going to pay that back too? NO, Carl M. when he was the director of redevelopment agreed to pay it back and didn't, but Gahan knows it's going to cost us more by splitting up the parks. If Gahan thinks he can put a ball park at Hoosier Panal he better have about $1 million to pay for it. And what will Coffey do? He claimed the last time it would give our kids cancer.

A $14 million bond is stupid. Again each new mayor wants to spend our money on his feel good projects.

Anonymous said...

Yep, city government should live on a budge just like the rest of us.

Anonymous said...

Wrong, 6:41. You're on some kind of agenda. Bennett's GREAT!

Anonymous said...

Yeah...he is great all right. Great at killing public schools, selling them and funding private , religious school with our tax dollars.

Anonymous said...

You're being ridiculous, 5:57. Public schools are not being murdered and you know it.

Fact is, our population is declining. Those of you who get all hot and bothered about closing schools are just fussing about nothing. You dont' keep buildings running just because they're there. You close buildings and put consolidate. The notion that we have any kind of "mega school" is also laughable. We don't have anything like that in NAFC Schools.

Also, the way Roger and his gang fuss about "neighborhood schools" is also just silly romanticism. Our kids aren't being bussed across the miles to attend unfriendly, uncaring, giant institutions.

Do you think NAFC schools are great? Or do you think they're horrible? Which is it?

I have two small children. I decided to do my homework on the schools. It's interesting that, when the ISTEP scores come out, they publish public schools in the paper separately from the private schools. I wondered about that. Then I did a side-by-side comparison. I now see why. Local private schools SLAM performance by public schools. Side by side, there's no comparison. Looking back over the past 15 years of scores, I find that they've ALWAYS been way ahead. But our public schools here ARE improving. Why? I think it's because of the leadership of Tony Bennett and others who are brave enough to take on the power mongers who want to keep the status quo going as always.

Now, get all hyper about religious schools if you will. You're just being silly. If you don't believe in sending your kids to religious schools, fine. But I'm glad my daughter is in Kindergarten at Our Lady. I've made the right choice. As for the voucher program, I am VERY thankful for it. Right now, I wouldn't have a chance to send her there without them. When I can, I'll pay my own way. For now, that funding is helping MY CHILD go to the best school available.

And, no, I'm not Catholic. But the Catholics do a heck of a better job educating kids than these huffy, screaming public school teachers who talk about benefits and salaries more than they talk about kids. I am not at all offended that the money to educate my kids will follow the KIDS. Get all offended if you want, but it's babyish to get on a soap box about that. Shows how little you care about the educational and developmental growth of KIDS. Snort all you want to, but it's the truth.

Yes, I'm voting for TONY BENNETT! He's doing a great job!

Anonymous said...

Your right Bennett has done a fine job. Just making sure everyone is accountable. More teachers complain they look ridiculous. If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

Anonymous said...

Pooooooooooool Gahan I know you want to leave a legacy but people don't even look at you as a leader.

Anonymous said...

Private schools choose who is allowed to enroll. No way to even compare. Public schools take everyone. This is another way to segregate.

Anonymous said...

No. Actually, 6:59, this is another way to get poor kids into the world of the "haves."

What you don't like is that complacent teachers who sit on their can but have worked at a school for 25 years get a gigantic salary and full benefits while a newer teacher who works her butt off gets substantially less. Think that's right? If you support whoever Bennett's opponent is, then that's clearly what you think. Same thing if you support Clere's opponent. I heard her speak at a rally. Ridiculous sh!t she said.

Public hospitals take everyone. Private hospitals do not have to take everyone. Do not confuse this with schools. Public schools kick people out all the time. Guess where they end up? At private schools. Most of these schools keep them because they do NOT get all the "funding" you public school teachers hold so dear. My sister teaches at St. Mary's NA. Believe me. It's not by any stretch of the imagination and exclusive club.

There are a lot of lies that get repeated during election time. Good thing most of us know the truth. VOTE FOR TONY BENNETT! I agree with 4:10. He's doing a "GREAT JOB!" THANK YOU, TONY!

SR said...

That's ok 7:58. I'm disgusted, disgusted, DISGUSTED with the Democrat party. I guess if we all just vote straight Republican this time, we might clean up all the mess and your Bennett will get in. Whatever it takes we can't get Obama back. He's ruined the country.

Anonymous said...

I am DISGUSTEd with Republicans. No solutions. Tax cuts for the mega rich. No healthcare. Limit rights of women. Lame. Pay people low wages and no benefits. If you can't see that...you get what you get.

Anonymous said...

Roger is not a parent so when he dares speak of children he doesn't know ANYTHING; he thinks they should be killed in the womb.

Anonymous said...

Tax cuts for the mega rich. That's made up. Just like you're mega schools are made up.

Anonymous said...

'limit rights of women'. You mean allow them to murder their unborn children? Yeah, that's already legal you idiot.

Anonymous said...

Coffey you want a pass to the pool for your west end kids, of course Gahan will bite for your vote. There are kids all over new Albany who can't afford things but you would not know , stay in your bubble. Oh just a minute that's right you have anxiety.

Tony Bennett=Bad...epic fail. Did I simplify it enough for you?

Anonymous said...

Tony Bennett = Good. HUGE success and Indiana schools have never been better. That should be simple enough for you to understand. GO DR. BENNETT! THINKING TEACHERS BACK YOU ALL THE WAY! THANKS FOR HELPING INDIANA'S POOR KIDS! PLEASE CONTINUE!

Anonymous said...

Every teacher who cares about kids and learning will be voting against Dr. Bennett. There is no union. You are uninformed. No surprise there.

Anonymous said...

No Teacher's Union? Where are YOU getting informed??? It may not be as powerful as it once was but there is definitely a Union.

Anonymous said...

Just checked the other blog comment space. Asked about teachers and Tony Bennett. Looks like I'm getting my answer here.

Unions have had their place in this country but not any more. They are nothing but big businesses posing as groups that "help" workers. HELP workers? Are you kidding? Especially teachers. HELP teachers? Unions have turned teachers into mindless lemmings who can't do their own thinking but believe everything the union tells them to. I assume the union has been telling them about Tony Bennett.

Anonymous said...

Didn't mean to hit "publish your comment."

I assume they union has been telling teachers about Tony Bennett. I assume what they've said has been negative. Of COURSE. What's new? The teachers union doesn't go around telling GOOD things about people, do they. Funny how that is.

I don't know what's going on. I'm a retired teacher. I don't have to listen to the screaming anymore. But you piqued my interest. I agree with the writer who said Tony Bennett's been doing a good job.

Teachers, do your own homework. Think on your own. You're smart, or else you wouldn't be able to be teachers. So, do your OWN homework. Take a risk. I took flak back in the day and I'm glad I stood up for the thinking side. The union is a BIG BUSINESS. Nothing more. They've marketed themselves as the ones who are "for kids," but the truth is that they're the ones for the bottom line. Those at the top make all the money.

Think about it.

Anonymous said...

Jeff will say anything to get Coffey's vote but he won't deliver.

Anonymous said...

Tony Bennett is destroying public education. The republican agenda is to privatize all of it. Why do you think Walmart and big money is donating to his campaign? There is money in getting tax dollars for education and then using it however you want because there is no oversight of how the money is used. Kids lose. Read about what has happened with charters all over the country. He is selling our schools. Look it up.

Anonymous said...

You've given yourself over to the babble. Listen beyond it. Charter schools ARE public schools. I repeat, charters are public.

It's amazing to me that in a country where we cherish individuality and creativity, we try hard to squelch it for the very people we are trying to help feel good about themselves as they're growing up. Do you REALLY think traditional public schools are the answer for ALL children?

I don't.

Tony Bennett has given Indiana's children a way out of the rut and has given ALL children hope for a better future. Isn't that the American way, or have we put that by the wayside?

Concerned NA Citizen said...

yep 12:24 I am thinking about it and your comment about the people at the top make all the money. You are right. And they do the least amount of work. You cannot tell me the if Our superintendent was offered more money from another school corp. he wouldn't leave. BS. He would leave in a heartbeat. As would T. Bennet if another job opening came around and he was offered more money. Teachers always get the bashing for our school problems but remember leadership starts at the top. Bad leadership. Bad attitudes from employees. And i am glad the teacher's union is still around. They need protection from the idiot's at the top. As long as they are following state guidelines then get off their backs. Also who gives progress reports to the superintendents and administrators ? If they are not doing their jobs then they should be held accountable. As for vouchers. Bad idea. What ever happened about seperating church and state. I guess that only applies when it's convenient for both parties. Hypoctites all.

Anonymous said...

Knowing that Tony Bennett could leave his State Supt job behind for a LOT more money should tell you how much he's here for the kids. He takes all the venom from the teachers union who are currently waging the most aggressive, angry, nasty campaign against a really excellent State Supt. It's fortunate that he's going to be reelected anyway. Fortunate for the kids.

As for the union. HA! What a laugh. Unions TELL teachers what to think and they're so busy, not to mention they're paying all the dues, they have no other way to know about issues. The leaders of the teachers union knows this. They make all the money, while the teachers pay them to tell them outright lies and fill their heads with anger and all kinds of persecution crap. Many teachers are finally wising up to all this. The union knows it, and that's why they're fighting for their very existence. It doesn't need to be. Unions need to go. They've become bullies.

Finally, that last comment you threw out there about the separation between church and state is ridiculous. What you're really hoping for, I suspect, is NO religion. If we host NO religion, then you would be satisfied in separation between church and state. Clearly, you have no idea what the Constitution actually says. But why read? Why find out FACTS?

They would elude you anyway.

Anonymous said...

He is making tons of cash from testing companies and charter school companies. No sacrifice for him, just public school kids and who cares about them? Not you, that is obvious.

Concerned NA Citizen said...

No . Religion is fine but that is taught in catholic schools. So using vouchers to send your kid to a catholic school on the taxpayers dime. I don't agree with it. My kids went to catholic schools and i had to pay every penny. And it was amazing at to what length the church would go to to guilt you into weekly donations on top of the money you dished out for your kids to go to school there. I asked back then about getting a break on taxes since my kids didn't go to public schools and i was laughed at. So no matter how much barking you do about the voucher program, i will never agree with it. As for Unions. I totally agree with Unions. They are the only thing from keeping rich, arrogant business owners from working people to death and paying them pennies an hour so they can get fithly rich. And Unions are a chioce. As is the decision making of each individual being a member of that union. So when the vote comes around for pay and benifits, the majority rules. Everyone may not agree with the outcome but a vote was taken and a decision made. Without a union the greedy business owner or school superintendent would make all the decisions not caring what or how it affects the worker. So we are 2 for 2 . Disagreeing on both those topics. Got anything else ?

Blah, blah, blah. You don't even attemp to listen or educate yourself. Waste of time to even discuss anything with 8:07.

Concerned NA Citizen said...

I agree with 8:07. In fact, I can see he hit a nerve.

Good job, 8:07. keep coming on here and telling it like it is!

Anonymous said...

8:07 is clueless.

Anonymous said...

8:07 is clueless, if you can't think for yourself. Great post 8:07!

Teachers think for yourself, then make a decision based on what you think. I never, EVER trust someone or something that TELLS me what they feel is best for all. They almost always have an agenda. If you do your job and teach your kids in the classroom and leave the union at the door, you end up getting flak for it.

Accountability, look it up. It requires you to stand up for YOUR decisions. We need this in the classroom and if you're not pulling your weight as an educator, you may be offended by someone holding you accountable.

Anonymous said...

Accountability is great-as long as it is fair, transparent and makes sense. Tony Bennett's rules for accountability are not fair to teachers, students or schools. They are a mystery. Parents and teacherers do not understand how the new grades for schools are even computed. They are a joke and do nothing to improve learning and student achievement. So- look up the facts and think for yourself instead of watching slick commercials filmed in exculsive private schools.Aren't you even a little curious as to why he has had over 1.5 million dollars contributed to his campaign from out of state sources? He is going to label our schools as failures and sell them to the hottest business going-charter schools with ZERO accountability. They have the lowest scores overal in the state.

Concerned NA Citizen said...

I agree with you 5:05 but all these robots on here are sucked in to the believe what you see and are told. Not doing your own investigating and making your own decision.
