WHAT'S GOING ON?

After a conversation with a Council member, we understand there was a $100,000.00 appropriation made by Council, which has come up missing.  We are waiting for more information.

There will be news breaking soon concerning actions taken, without Council's approval, by former Mayor England involving Carl Malysz, John Rosenbarger, Kathy Wilkerson, Pat Linck, and Cyndi Krauss.  We hope to be reporting more on this subject soon.  (Though we may not receive the information until the Press is involved.  This is not our choice.)

Not to change the subject, but, we are aware of the number of police cars being parked on Grantline and we for one say - WAY TO GO!  We aren't quite sure how much longer we can sustain the numbers we are paying for our Fire and Police and welcome their effort in trying to lower their costs!   Most excellent.

Short and sweet - that's what this article is.

Evidently the Council and the People have spent four years in the dark! Do you think the Council will be upset THEY have been kept in the dark - hmmm.

Anonymous said...

Those cars are parked at the garage because they are broken or extras.

Anonymous said...

What is Gahan hiding?

Anonymous said...

The so called police cars you see that are parked on Grant Line Road are not actually police cars, they are for the traffic people that go around following the street sweeper, etc. Civilians drive these and do not take them home. These cars are not assigned to sworn officers.

Anonymous said...

Dagnabbit and here we thought maybe they were voluntarily parking them. Thanks for sharing.

Anonymous said...

When will the council findly get it through their heads we are tired of all this crap coming out. We want a full investigation.

Anonymous said...

For real there's $100,000 missing?

Anonymous said...

The last time England left office there was $837,000 missing. That's why we need an audit. Is Gahan this dumb not to cover his own butt?

Anonymous said...

gahan probably got a cut to pay for his daughters wedding to his future son in law the tire man, I mean the flood control expert

Anonymous said...

findly??? I guess we do need education reform

Requests were made to retrieve Mr. Gibson's new contract, TIF balances and maps showing the TIF areas. Freedom of Information requests had to be filed. We'll see if the info can be retrieved.

Yall are crazy. Nobody is gonna investigate New Albany. Nobody really cares about New Albany. Despite all your yammering about our tax money, Indy just looks at lil ole Nabny as a drop in the bucket, poor ass town that doesn't give enough money in the first place. Hell, if they didn't do anything to Dougie when $800,00 was missing why are they gonna give a crap about $100,000? And ole Jeffy is just walking around like a deer caught in the headlights. He's not a part of any conspiracy, he's to lost and confused about what he's suppose to be doing to be involved. Hey Jeff, where's the ordinance for the new positions you created and how much money they make? You were on the council for 8 Years, don't pretend you don't know that has to be done. How are we suppose to save any money if your gonna give all your friends and relatives jobs their not qualified for?

Anonymous said...

I believe the TIF balances were given to Ms. Denhart yesterday.

Anonymous said...

Thank you 10:38.

Anonymous said...

Jeff is just doing what the old mayor did: sitting back and letting Carl runs things. Like it or not, Carl is the one who runs this city.

Anonymous said...

Gahan has completely failed. The hiring of his future son-in-law not only shows a lack of judgement but a complete lack of character. The "transition team" picked him? Please! I loved the part of the Gahan statement in the Tribune talking about his qualifications due to the fact he navigated the river. Yep, I have been on the river in a boat many times too but would not make a good director of Flood Control. I used to think Gahan was sincere but now know he is just a fool who will be looking for work 01-01-16.

Anonymous said...

Gahan couldn't run the city without Carl. He is the only bright spot in the administration.

Anonymous said...

ROFL - who are you kidding 10:50?

Anonymous said...

Everyone is so concerned about Mr. Gibson's contract. Where is the contract covering a part-time contractual postion where someone got paid $50.00/hour to work in her mother's office? Also, has anyone checked out Kathy Smith? It seems she is telling things are going to happen before anyone else knows about it. Shouldn't an attorney's secretary know how to keep things in confidence? Inquiring minds want to know!

Anonymous said...

Got two news flashes for you folks. Ronnie Granger was making $40,000 salary the new Flood director (Gahan's future son in-law will get and be making $45,000. Not for NOT having NO experience.

Mrs. Garry hasn't returned yet, but she is returning part-time in the controllers office, soon. Seems since Ms. Denhart blew the whistle on her and the others (God Bless, Vicki) Garry now has to return part time.

Anonymous said...

Carl is a crook too and we're gonna prove it.

Anonymous said...

What the heck? $45,000 a year for Gahan's future son in law! What is his degree from IUS in? What makes him qualified? From what I have heard Ron Granger had to work on pumps and actually do manual labor, ol' pretty boy sure isn't going to get his hands dirty. Gahan is a disgrace to this city! Tell me this, why do you think some should be paid way more than they are worth when you have some emloyees that are underpaid and have not had a raise in years?

Anonymous said...

We have tried everything to get the $50.00 an hour contract for Mrs. Garry's daughter. It is not in the City Clerk's Office. There is a lot of information missing from the City Clerk's Office and we have yet to find out where the information is. That should be a crime in and of itself -- documents missing from the Clerk's office.

Anonymous said...

We aren't quite sure what government doesn't quite get - they are PUBLIC documents - OUR documents.

Shane is showing up at all these boards as the attorney where is Stan ??? I thought Stan was full time and Shane part time? I can't wait for Shane to run as prosecutor he has sold his soul to the devil and just will not listen to good people.

Anonymous said...

8 years on the council I did not realize how dumb he is it's a shame. Knows nothing about the operations.

No one thought Doug was in his corner it's a conspiracy those boys pumped money into Gahans private business
Which evidently was not sucessful.

There's a big shove comin' on England. And as far as the last leak...that made your chin hit the floor a bit, didn't it? Imagine that. It's about damn time someone nails England and Gahan. Like I said you got some smart folks making some real connections. dO ME A FAVOR AND PAY attention to Citizens for Accountability. They got some people...some of them got the right eyes for this stuff. So sit and wait and watch pieces are starting to fall in place. Information is being locked down, which usually signals something big is about to fail and will fall in the right hands. There are those orf us of a like mind. We share a common goal that crosses party lines. This ain't no Democrat or Republican thing - it's about corruption in New Albany.

Anonymous said...

Bring it on Vickie!!!

Anonymous said...

Jeff Gahan is going to have a lot to answer for with all the nepotism going on in his hiring practices. He's going to have a lot to answer for with his hiring of people from the England administration, people he PROMISED he would be getting rid of. He's going to have a lot to answer for in his general attitude and in his wife's snobbish behavior. He's going to have to answer for his weird quest to do the bidding of the teachers union.

Sat in the back but heard everything said...

Just for kicks I went to the city of New Albany website and looked up the minutes from the city council meeting where Vicki Denhart spoke up along with Jessica Knable and two guys named Steve. What I see of the minutes is that at least half of what I heard is missing from the public communications.

Jessica Knable did not only thank the mayor. She thanked the whistle blowers too. She read a statement from a piece of paper that I know was longer than one sentence thanking the mayor.

As for the comments from Vicki Denhart, I know she had more meat to her comments too. It was strange how things were interrupted and all, but she said a lot more and I wish I could remember what all it was.

You can see it all below, but for now, I'm left wondering why the Tribune didn't include any of this and why Vicki Glotzbach as Clerk and Diane Benedetti as Council President signed off on an incomplete set of minutes. Did someone mess with them? And, surely, the council didn't approve them later.

ROFLMFAO because I know they DID.

MISCELLANOUS ITEMS:

COMMUNICATIONS – PUBLIC (non-agenda items):

Steve Price applauded Mr. Coffey for bringing the Executive Order regarding insurance to light and spoke regarding the content and how it would affect the budget.

Steve Burks asked how the invocation got removed from the agenda.

Mrs. Benedetti stated that she did it.

Mr. Burks stated that there has been much discussion regarding the Executive Order and while they all may not agree on every position but they can agree on transparency and he quoted IC 5-14-3-1 regarding non-disclosure and stated that unfortunately it took the citizens of New Albany to bring this issue to light and he hopes it will serve a wakeup call to the administration and the council.

Jessica Knable thanked the administration and Mayor Gahan for rescinding the executive order.

Vicki Denhart stated that she is here to set the record straight that she leaked the Executive Order and explained that as President of Citizens for Accountability and she felt an obligation to community and the new administration to do so. She stated that she didn’t appreciate that Mayor Gahan promised to rescind the order on one date and once it came out in the paper it was rescinded on a different date. She stated that she called many different individuals in the city and they were unable to produce a copy of this executive order and it was very disturbing that she was unable to find it anywhere in the city. She stated that she has a copy of Shane Gibson’s contract and thank goodness she did because they were told that moving him to part time would save the city money and that is not true.

Mrs. Benedetti asked her what year that contract was signed because that doesn’t sound like the current contract.

Mrs. Wilkinson shared a prayer that they use during the Business and Professional Women’s meetings.

IN COMMITTEE:

TABLED ORDINANCES:

G-11-18 An Ordinance Authorizing the Issuance of Sewage Coffey 1 & 2
Works Revenue Bonds for the Purpose of Providing
Funds to Pay the cost of Certain Additions,
Extensions and Improvements to the Municipal
Sewage Works of the City of New Albany, Consisting

Sewage Works and the Safeguarding of the Interests
Of the Owners of the Sewage Works Revenue Bonds;
Other Matters Connected Therewith, Including the
Issuance of Notes in Anticipation of Said Bond; and
Repealing Ordinances Inconsistent Herewith.

ADJORN:

There being no further business before the board, the meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.

Sorry for my vote said...

I'm not calling Phipps any kind of name. I certainly disagree with name calling and experience the same myself.

I've always liked and admired Greg for his astuteness in sociological issues and for his willingness to jump in and make change.

However...

I draw the line at disrespecting the church and the flag. I suspect he thinks he is challenging us to think beyond the way we've been taught (or the way he thinks we've been taught. But I've got to say that his irrational and angry thinking is every bit as offensive as are the rants of that guy who says Girl Scouts are lesbians and promote sex. It may be the opposite side of the fence, but the behavior is EXACTLY the same thing.

I'm very disappointed.

Sorry for my vote said...

Also, this is one time when I totally agree with the blog Freedom of Speech. Here's the link I forgot to include before:

Wow. Phipps is losing it. How can he say things like that even if he thinks it? What do we know about Phipps (and I don't mean the gay crap)?

Anonymous said...

Steve Price never would have gone for any if that, because he wouldn't have understood the words.

Anonymous said...

I'm sure Steve Price can understand the words. How the people who think they're big want to be taken seriously with comments like that, I don't know. Grow up.

As for Phipps, I'm going to start watching him more closely. I took him at his word that he's a Christian. You have to wonder about that with blog entries like the ones he keeps posting.

Anonymous said...

Right, because all Christians believe exactly as you do...and if they don't, they're clearly not Christian. *sigh*

Anonymous said...

I'll take freedom of speech as a blog seriously when they start allowing comments. Until then, they're a joke.

Anonymous said...

When you 9:31 AM don't like what's on Freedom Of Speech you claim I want to post there. Come on admit they are good and they put the truth and the facts out there.
Besides, why should Freedom Of Speech allow comments? It seems to me your the one with the problem. It seems like to me they have the facts and you don't.

Great job Freedom Of Speech, sorry KT I like this page too.

Anonymous said...

Can't you idiots see Phipps was expressing a metaphor? The ash cross is a CHRISTIAN symbol of repentance. He is simply pointing out collective sin of society in his Lenten posts. Jeeeeeeeeze!

Anonymous said...

9:22 said "I'm going to start watching him more closely. I took him at his word that he's a Christian."

So if he is or isn't a christian is a mute point. There is no religious test to hold office in this country, but wait a minute, we live in backward New Albany LOL. Her makes some very valid points in his analysis of relion and our nations problems. We need more progressive thinks like Phipps on the council who CAN think in different ways!

Anonymous said...

Sell it to someone else 1:07 it wasn't a metaphor and you know it. It's his progressive thinking.

Anonymous said...

What CM Phipps posts on his blog has no bearing on his performance on the council. If you look closely he mentions nothing about the city coucil or council items on his blog. He is simply making religious & social commentary.Focus on his actions on the council and nothing more. Pass judgment on his council record, not on his personal or religious beliefs! Grow up little uneducated people, open your minds to higher-level thinking. Jeeeeze!

Anonymous said...

This has nothing to do with Phipps being on the council. I can buy that. But the anger expressed in his posts are alarming. They are NOT metaphor. Far from it, they are the honest and angry desire to rub the cross all over everything he disrespects. Now, here's where it makes me think twice about him as CM: When you have extreme views, there's no problem with your serving. There are all kinds of people with extreme views. But, to express it so strongly is very off-putting, just like the far-right Christian nutsos who say everyone's going to hell in a handbasket if they don't believe the Bible is exactly right word for word. Keep that stuff to yourself, Phipps. I wish I didn't know you were a half-crazed angry and disrespectful "progressive."

Anonymous said...

3:48 if you don't like what phipps says on his blog, then why do you read it? Seems pretty simple to me. The same goes for Roger. I can't belive the intense hate expressed toward him. If you get upset with what roger says, stop reading his blog.

Greg Phipps said...

I normally do not respond on other people’s blogs, but I want to clarify some misconceptions concerning recent posts on facebook and my blog. My posts seemed to have offended some, but this was never my intent, I simply wanted people to think about issues, in a different way. My Lenten series is meant to be a contemporary view of societal problems “sins” as they are often called in religion. The ash cross is a sacred and holy symbol, imposed on the foreheads of Christians, on Ash Wednesday, as a sign of repentance and forgiveness. I use this symbol as a metaphor in my posts. I’m not implying that ashes should be physically imposed on cherished symbols in a disrespectful way.
Some have accused me of being an angry person, I am not. Each of my posts is meant to be critical of the social conditions, but each concludes with a positive affirming hope for the future. Some have accused me of being a communist; let me assure you that I’m not. Some have accused me of being an atheist; I am not, I simply have a modern interpretation of Christianity. Some have called me a liberal and a progressive, I am, and wear those labels proudly. I am passionate about what I believe in so I will not apologize for expressing my views, in fact, my series will continue through Lent, but I am sorry if some have taken offense. These posts have no bearing on my ability to serve as a councilman. Please judge me on my council record and not on my social and religious views.

Anonymous said...

I agree with you CM Phipps. I voted for you and I am glad I did. People need to think about and see things from different angles. God knows, this city needs to look at things different

Anonymous said...

I don't think people actually think you want to put actual ashes on physical things, CM Phipps. But I do agree that your language sounds angry and demonstrates an extreme viewpoint. I respectfully suggest that you consider respecting the loving expression of other Christians who do choose to observe a traditional Lent and who prefer prayer and quiet reflection to making open statements. I'm Methodist, not Catholic, and even I understand what is meant by celebrating Lent. Live and let live. I urge others to do the same and let you celebrate Lent as you will.

The only thing I will do is pray for your soul but other than that I find you repulsive and in need of therphy. You are NOT fit to sit on the council rep. my neighbors, me or my family.

Freedom of religion means freedom for all religions, not just some.

We feel and believe whole heartedly in the separation of Church and State.

We pray for all of our elected reps and respect the rights of all of the community, whether they be athiest, agnostic, Jewish, Christian, etc.

Before we are quick to judge or condemn, remember, there was a man who believed only his religion was the one and that was Osama bin Laden.

Tolerance of each other would go a long way in getting things done.

Now, if they're a crook, they're a crook and that has nothing to do with our belief system.

For those of us who claim to be Christian, as I do, remember - judge not lest ye be judged.

Okay, I'm done preaching, lol!

After having serveral conversations with CM Phipps, I would have to agree with his interpretation of what he feels is a Christian. We all need to remember that Jesus died for ALL sins. There is no degree of sin which puts it above another, that being said he and all of you are entitled to your opinion. I can't say that anger was ever expressed in our conversations concerning Christianity. We might however disagree on part of what we feel it is to be a Christian. In any case, Jesus didn't leave any sin when he climbed on the cross. He died for us ALL.

Anonymous said...

I have quite a history with "CM" Phipps. We've been in many discussions about theology. I find him to be very angry, just like others have stated on here. So, tonight, I went to his web page. Yes. There's a vein of anger in his voice. Also of disrespect. If Phipps doesn't want to observe Lent, and HE says he doesn't like to observe it, then he should not observe Lent and refrain from this sabotage of the Lenton practices of others among us. I'm not thrilled with Lent either, but I just don't give things up. I do not write about grinding ashes on the thin pages of the Bible (upsetting imagery IMHO), etc. Yes, my background is Catholic and I was out of church for years before becoming Episcopalian. Obviously there is a lot about the Catholic Church that I gave up. Phipps would do well to do the same. I'm not visiting his blog again.

Anonymous said...

Agreed. The Phipps comments are despicable.

UEZ = Urban Enterprise Zone

Actually, newly-fired 1SI leader is a conservative Democrat.

The police think they need more cars? To quote one of the regulars on here, "Yell, right."

Still waiting on the "breaking news" regarding England, Malysz, Rosenbarger, Wilkerson, Linck and Krauss. Waiting with a yawn.

Anonymous said...

Phipps obviously has a huge problem with our flag, our Bible and America in general. I, for one, find his 'Lent entries' highly disrespectful and very unfitting for an American in general and a representative of our city's council specifically. For shame.

Anonymous said...

Who cares what you think 4:59? It's a free country and the last time I checked we have freedom of religion.Should an elected official cease to be a citizen and give up free speech rights when elected?

Anonymous said...

Also 4:59, shouldn't we all be concerned about the propblems in America that he mentions and try to make the U.S. a better place? or should we just say we are the best, like it or leave it? Jeeeze!

Anonymous said...

Well, 5:08 and 5:10, it's not that Phipps isn't guaranteed the same freedom of religion and the same freedom of speech that we all enjoy. The question is the wisdom of posting something so extreme. Whether he likes it or not, EVERYONE in his district has to be represented by him which means that he now needs to be sensitive to their freedoms too. You've made this too much a question of whether he has the right and whether he is trying to make things better. Well, it may come as a surprise to you Roger-followers, but you don't effect change by charging in and demanding that everyone see everything YOUR way. With you, with Roger, with Greg, with others like you, it's "My way or the highway, and everyone else will be called some snarky name or made fun of in some way (because, after all, it's my right to say whatever I want, right?)."

You would do well to pay attention instead of combat everyone else on here who thinks differently than you.

You're not at all progressive, and you're trying to splinter our party into a group of extremists not so unlike the Girl Scout haters. Not all Democrats are like you.

Anonymous said...

@ 5:40 I like your post. You're dead on.

Phipps put a mission statement on after the fact. You can't convince me that he didn't say what he really feels. Angry.

Heh. And the Republicans say that the Democrats are trying to restrict speech...

Funny. I bet y'all are the first ones to cry out about how you as fundamentalist Christians are persecuted and not allowed free speech- yet, you deny someone that doesn't see the world the same as you that same right.

Hypocrite, much?

Even in public office, (and let's face it, some river town in Southern Indiana does NOT equate to a political position like Senator or President), Greg is still a citizen and shouldn't cease his own life because you have a little tantrum.

And, I've figured it out. You all call everyone who even sounds remotely intelligent and spells their words correctly "Roger". I kept trying to figure out which posters you called "Roger"- and that's exactly it.

Everyone who spells correctly is not Roger. Roger doesn't always spell correctly. Let's see if I can find something. BRB

I found one error in grammar (minor).

That's politics. You win some, you lose some, and you get blind drunk in the meantime (well, me at least).

He meant to say, "That's politics. You win some, you lose some, and you get blind drunk in the meantime, (well, I at least).

Looking up another one that's foreign. BRB

Reminder: Louis Le Française, NABC and Starlight beer dinner on Thursday, March 1

That's another tweet. The "e" at the end of "Francaise" should not be there. That is incorrect. Since he went to the trouble to put that thingy on the bottom of the "c," he should have known whether it was masculine or feminine. Louis is a boy's name.

ROFL

I think he's called Louie.

I looked up his business here. Googled. Then looked up francaise, what it means. It means French. Le means the. He might say Louie, but he uses his formal name.

It was boring looking up Roger's tweets. He really does say nonsensical things. No substance, just whining. My sacrifice for the day was reading Roger.

At the very least, that was entertaining. :) Thanks!

It's funny to. Ha! Ha! Baylor thinks he's mr. smart stuff but he can't spell. Ha! Ha!I don't claim to have good spelling and al that but Baylor does. Bragger.

Anonymous said...

I don't know if Baylor makes mistakes but I do know he uses a thesaurus all the time so we'll think he's the big man.

Anonymous said...

I used to read Roger, but increasingly find him irrelevant, which I would wager is his biggest fear: being irrelevant.

Anonymous said...

He means nothing to me either. I checked out a couple years ago. He attacks. That's it.

Anonymous said...

fork baylor, twinkle toes (now dont get jealous greg, not trying to steal your man)

Anonymous said...

Baylor the big man? Uh, there's nothing big about Baylor.

Anonymous said...

That you can assert such a statement with utmost confidence is...disturbing.

Anonymous said...

Well, we can all see him wearing the bike shorts. ROFLMAO

Anonymous said...

You nasty people are ridiculous. Ignore Baylor and his stupid package, will you? We all know he's a moron who uses a thesaurus. But he's not someone we need to be talking about. He is no one.

With every breath I take, I will campaign against this so called mayor. All his decisions have been politically motivated and not made for the right reasons.

Anonymous said...

I will campaign against him too. He's dishonest. I'm also campaigning hard against Phipps, a character I never thought would be worth much on the council. Don't we have party members with integrity? Can't we find new people who aren't part of the angry mob? I'm NEVER going to turn Republican, but I get tempted every now and then, thanks to these clowns.

Wonder what's going on on the third floor today? Hmmmmmmmmmm

Anonymous said...

You folks need to worry about what's going on, on the third floor of the City County Building instead of feeding Baylor's ego. Com'n on people our city is in trouble and they are robbing us blind.

So Mr. or Mrs. 2/29/3:34 hang tight Kitchen Table is about to knock your socks off just you wait and see.

Anonymous said...

still waiting........

Anonymous said...

Don't worry, just wait. You'll see that justice can triumph over evil, even in li'l ole New Albany.

So Gahan didn't return the favor to the NAACP for the Major's position of the fire department, but he did repay another favor and now we have Otis as the Major. Good going Gahan! Your an idiot! You have no idea how things work, go back to selling Christmas trees!!!
