YOU DO KNOW ENGLAND IS UPSET FREEDOM OF SPEECH FOUND OUT ABOUT THE GOINGS ON WITH HIM AND STUMLER, DON'T YOU?  HOW DARE CITIZENS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY KNOW THESE THINGS!  AND, WHY DID ENGLAND CRY?  FOR US OR FOR HIM?

ENGLAND'S CIRCLE IS NO LONGER "TIGHT".  THERE ARE TOO MANY LEAKS SEEPING OUT AND I SAY BRING THE REST OF IT OUT!

STUMLER HAS TO KEEP CARL IN HIS EMPLOYMENT (OUR EMPLOYMENT) BECAUSE WHO ELSE IS GOING TO RUN THIS CITY AND KEEP THEIR FINGERS ON THE COOKIE JAR?

I AM WAITING TO SEE IF JEFF GAHAN WILL TAKE THE MESS ON IN OUR ILLUSTRIOUS CITY.  I FEEL THE DEMOCRATS WILL WELCOME HIM WITH OPEN ARMS.

AND, I AM CERTAINLY AWAITING FOS TO COME FORWARD WITH THE REST OF THE INFORMATION OBTAINED FROM WITHIN THE HALLOWED WALLS OF THE CITY-COUNTY BUILDING.  BRING IT ON.  SOME SIMPLY CAN NOT STAND WE DO HAVE DECENT HARD WORKING PEOPLE WITHIN THOSE HALLS WHO DO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON AND ARE REALLLYY TIRED OF THE SHENANIGANS.

GOOD JOB EVERYONE!  KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK(S).  KEEP YOUR FAITH AND HOLD YOUR HEAD UP HIGH.

Great posting. I totally agree with everything stated.

Is there more leaks coming out about Douglas B. England and his deal with Stumler, and others?

Absolutely!

Have you ever heard the expression: timing is everything.

One of the wonderful things about New Albany is that we have many interested citizens and much to say. I commend Kitchen Table Issues as a blog dedicated to the welfare of our community. Thank you for your dedication to truth and for keeping the discussion going so that the people can have as much information as possible. GOOD JOB, KITCHEN TABLE!

There has been discussion on Shirley Baird's blog regarding FOS and about CFA.

First, while several members of CFA also contribute to and are in charge of the FOS blog, they are two separate entities.

As for the ongoing argument as to who is Professor Erik and does he even exist, I posted this on Voice of the People and repost it here:

Does Professor Erik exist? Doesn't Professor exist? Neither of these is the question. Frankly, it's a non-issue as to whether he exists or not. As Shirley pointed out, your doubt of his existance does not invalidate that which he says.

Citizens for Accountability is a group of respectible, active, interested citizens who see missing links in our city's reporting on fiscal issues. I don't care which party has control, we CANNOT ignore wreckless spending, slovenly record keeping, and what has all the appearance of shady dealings. To do so doesn't help any of our citizens, most of whom struggle to get by and who are oblivious to matters pertaining to the running of the city of New Albany.

Therefore, the mantle is on OUR shoulders. We, who are clued in to the financial reports, council meetings, interpersonal communications between public officials (whether elected or not), MUST continue to be watchdogs for our community.

We cannot continue to allow things to go by unchecked. Attack if you will, but we intend to continue our vigilance, even if you have to hear things that you don't want to hear. Even if we don't get credit for having saved the city from nefarious deals made behind closed doors, even if we aren't paraded like heroes through the city, we can NOT give up on the little people. They don't have the time, the financial resources, the wherewithal to do the research for themselves. While you and I may have time to get on blogs and discuss these issues, many New Albanians are just struggling to survive day to day.

So, please, let us show a little grace and wisdom, and let us question without throwing out perjorative comments and nebulous satire that help nothing.

My thought is some people get carried away with the thought BLOGS are read by everyone (especially their own). Therefore they feel, aw hell, let's just say "protected" from lawsuits and from JOHN LAW.

We are now reading and hearing "someone" made a threatening remark on their blog and were arrested (someone who ran for Congress). But, in the same argument, this person was "political" and was a public figure.

But, yet, news channels, etc., are constantly reporting and others whining the law needs to catch up with the internet. Congress hasn't moved fast enough, nor State governments to stop cyber bulling on the kids, and other horrible acts.

So, does a blog have as much entitlement, the luxury, etc. as newspapers and television stations to do "satire" and make jokes of public and non public people?

Even Bill Lamb (Fox 41) has to say his opinion(s) are not associated with Fox 41. (I am not defending Bill Lamb. I usually do not agree with much of what he has to say either.)

I wonder.

Everyone on all the local blogs need to stop calling each other names and ask each other the hard questions. "Show us PROOF!" is not the kind of question I'm talking about.

What ever happened to civility? I'm sick of hearing all the fussing about Vicki and Erik and Roger and Gillenwater--in other words, I'm sick of all the ranting and raving against people whether I agree with them or not!

We all need to use more grace and tact, actually. Writer 7:42 has a point about that.

Writer 10:42 has an excellent point too. One of these days, the law will catch up with all this.

Anonymous said...

"...the law will catch up with all this."

Yes, indeed, the law will catch up. We might as well let these old rude habits NOW!

shirley baird said...

@ 12.24 & 2.12 I agree with both of you very much. I wish everyone would have a civil discussion about the issues without calling each other names or accusing each other of lying.

I think blogs serve a purpose but if people don't change their ways the law will shut all of us down.

It is disgusting that they used a picture of Suddeath and his name along with the Tribune's without their permission to spread their hatred. They talk about how people are cowards if they post anonymously, yet they use other people's pictures and names. That is far worse than posting anonymously and certainly more cowardly.

Anonymous said...

Yes, indeed. It is cowardly.

As for the law, I guarantee you there will be laws passed and we will be made to behave with civility. I agree with Shirley and with 12:45. Absolutely!

If you have proof Carl has his hand in the cookie jar, let's see it.

If you don't have proof, why are you writing slander?

Anonymous said...

Those of you who keep arguing that for C FAUX A used Suddeath in their photo might as well know that Suddeath and Baylor, et al, are all friends. Suddeath may or may not have known about it, but he would have agreed that it was funny, in all likelihood. I'm sure neither he nor the Tribune would care too much, just because they're all on friendly terms and to them , it would all appear to be a harmless joke.

I agree that the C FAUX A post in question was in poor taste and was mean-spirited.

Anonymous said...

It's in poor taste and mean to New Albany citizens to tell them you have evidence of crimes when you don't.

Anonymous said...

It's also slander.

Let's look at the intent of FOS. They're trying to inform the people of things so they can make an informed decision as to whether or not to support our public officials. Information can come from a variety of sources and I consider FOS a legitimate source of information. At the very least, they provide information that I may follow up on. I may check things out. I am certainly capable of checking these things out for myself. Most of us are.

So, I appreciate FOS and what they're trying to do. I just got online and noticed a new posting on their site. It's about John Gonder. Nothing to prove there-it's all part of public record.

Stop whining about proof and start doing some of your own research.

Anonymous said...

How were you informed by this and how did you follow up on it?

Thanks for posting, Kitchen Table!

I appreciate all your insight. It gives food for thought.

Thanks for providing a place where we may write our own thoughts on each subject. It's nice just to be able to air what's on our minds! I definitely appreciate it! THANKS!

Anonymous said...

Personally I may not agree with some of FOS's views about i.e. say the President of the US. Their view is their view and their opinion is their opinion.

I do agree with public information being posted obtained through hard work and paying good money to obtain financials about our city.

I admire them for having the trust of people within certain "circles" and posting public going ons behind the scenes before it happens.

What can be said except the inner workings of city government have people discontent with the way this city is/has/are/am being handled and taxpayer dollars (all of ours) spent? It's our right to know and their right to speak.

No one seems to take the time except for FOS to obtain financials from Department of Local Government and Finance. No one seems to take the time to talk with the people in the know except FOS. I assume there is a good reason for this.

There is an old saying you can fool the people you work FOR ALL the time; you can fool the people you work WITH SOME of the time; but you CAN NOT FOOL THE PEOPLE WHO WORK UNDER YOU NONE OF THE TIME because they pick up all the slack.

Again if you want to moan and groan about FOS respond to them please. I can, can't you? No, don't answer that. I don't want to hear the excuses.

To each his own. Thanks KITCHEN TABLE for letting me vent.

As I have often heard in this town. 'It is what it is!' I also read FOS and I like seeing my councilman's voting record on line. And I do plan to verify the infotmation.

One question though how come the Evening News and Tribune does not print this information?

Anonymous said...

In my opinion the Tribune could win something comparable to a Pulitzer Prize but so could the Courier Journal for investigative journalism. The only thing we can figure out are advertising dollars and today, anywhere in the US, there aren't enough dollars for investigative reporting. Who knows?

Anonymous said...

The tribune would rather associate their reporters and the Tribune name with Faux interviews instead or real news and information.

Anonymous said...

The Tribune is disinclined to get involved with the satire of bit players. They're preoccupied with their call to New Albany's best and brightest.

Anonymous said...

I am a republican and I plan to ask for a democrat ballot. It's time for aka England - Irv, Shane and Carl to find real jobs.

Anonymous said...

I'm Republican too, and I agree wholeheartedly with you, 7:32. Shame on England and his crew. They're exactly why the Tribune made the call for New Albany's best and brightest. I hope we get some decent candidates. Shane and Carl HAVE to go!

ERIK FOR MAYOR 2011

Anonymous said...

I'm a Democrat and I'll definitely vote the Primary this year. It's already looking like an interesting race.

I want to know why our best and brightest don't seem to come out for political office. Ed Clere is an anomaly in this, because he does fit that description. So does Linda Moeller. She's the best! But who else does? Our School Board? Our city administration? Our City Council? I don't think so!

Anonymous said...

I don't think Erik can run for mayor. Neither can Lee Ann Wiseheart. They live just outside city limits.

---

Even though I haven't commented here on Kitchen Table in a long time. I just couldn't resist. On another two blog (NAC-Voice of the People), there is a blantant show of self promotion on it.

Sure many have noted his self-centeredness in his slamming of others. He is way too full of himself to even be taken seriously.

Nowadays, it's not just kids in school that are harassed and abused by others but adults as well.

Bullying has also taken up a new form as well.

Cyber-bullying!

Using a computer or I-phone to post vile attacks against our elected State Rep. Ed Clere. Who by the way was elected by not only the republican voters but democrat voters as well.

(Just in case you forgot.)

Oh, he thinks he is very brave sitting in front of his computer screen with his fingers flying over his keyboard, isn't he?

He hasn't got the guts to say anything to State Rep. Ed Clere or his wife's face let alone anybody elses face, hmmm.

The internet and social networks have made it so easy for this coward and I mean coward to spew his horrid verbal abuses and for him to enlist his drinking buddies in his sick plans.

In closing I'd like to express my condolences to all the victims of cyber-bullying and to say my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I'd also like to say that we all face bullies at one time or another and we all have cyberfight or two but remember that these people that cyberbully others (you know who you are)are not right in their head and they are not to be taken lightly, he/they has shown signs of obession aainst a certain woman who happens to be a very good friend of mine and many others in this town.

And for you cyber-bullies out there, stop and think about what you're really doing. Your actions can actually result in the injury or death of someone. Your actions can cause you to get arrested. If you feel the need to bully someone, put yourselves in that persons shoes. Would you like it? And don't say you wouldn't care cause if you do you're lying.

If you continue to cyber-bully others then be well prepared for the consequences.

Legal Beagle

Anonymous said...

This is EXACTLY what it is. They call it "satire," but it's cyber-bullying.

It's much easier to sit in a chair behind a keyboard and write whatever you want about whomever you want. THAT's what makes this so insidious! As Legal Beagle said, these same individuals wouldn't think of confronting the Cleres or CFA members or, really, anyone they attack.

And I've noticed that they make accusations, then another one will get on there and say, "Great job, So-and-so!" or "So-and-so says it better than anyone else, and here it is-a reprint."

It's a crock of crap by a bunch of bullies.

Iamhoosier said...

Dear Legal Beagle,
RE: Rep. Clere
It took me three emails and finally begging(in the 3rd)for at least an acknowledgement of receiving them, to even hear back from Rep. Clere. His reasoning was, that it appeared that I already had made up my mind. Even if true, why should an elected official think that they only have to talk with constituents who agree with them? That's not representative government in my opinion.

Now, to be fair, Rep. Clere did offer, in his response, to meet me for coffee. I responded that I would like that and would leave it up to him to suggest some times for such. Have yet to hear back. I do realize that the legislature is now in session, so I've not given hope--yet.

I'm willing to meet him face to face. I've seen Roger and Rep. Clere, face to face. You people have no idea what you are talking about. You are all anonymous. Kinda hard to tell you face to face with a bag over your head. I just offered on Shirley's blog to meet and was rebuked.

Who are the real bullies? Those who are open and available or those who hide?

Anonymous said...

"You just offered on Shirley's blog and was rebuked"? Did she remove your post or has it not been printed yet? BS

Iamhoosier said...

You are correct. "Rebuffed" would have been a better choice. Thanks for pointing that out. I offered and the anonymous poster declined to meet.

It is funny to see you people with a "bag over your head" complaining that others won't talk to you face to face. Ironic. I believe that is the proper use of that word.

Anonymous said...

No,go to the "just offered". ???

Iamhoosier said...

Sorry, misunderstood.

It's under the post titled "House Bill 1022". Last few comments.

Anonymous said...

Yes. And, the poster wrote they had already spoken w/ you, it didn't go well and politely thanked you for your offer anyway.

Yes. We saw you speaking with Steve Price.

I still don't understand your point to Legal Beagle and Ed Clere. But, it's not my place to understand.

Anonymous said...

The problem with some of you who get online and buzz, buzz, buzz about what you think is that you appear to think that ALL the people think like you do, or SHOULD think like you do. Your minds ARE already made up. It's obvious. So, I have to congratulate Rep. Clere for calling you on it. He has more chutzpah than I'd given him credit for!

As for you asking ("begging") him to speak to you, you've done this publicly--it has all the appearance of cyber bullying, even to me.

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

Anonymous said...

Yup. Clere called a spade a spade!

Iamhoosier said...

I'm a constituent of his, whether he likes it or not. It's no different than you bitching about England being unresponsive, except that I sign my name. My email was a simple question and sent to his HR box. It took me 3 tries to even get an acknowledgement of receipt. I thought email was "fairer" to him time wise and less intrusive than calling him. Never did get an answer to my question. Still haven't met face to face(but I understand that, for now).

Some of us are being accused of not engaging in person. How can we? That is the point and it keeps getting ignored.

Iamhoosier said...

So, an elected representative should only engage with constituents that already agree with him/her? Wow.

Anonymous said...

I guess the thing you don't understand is we aren't worried or really care about your "point". We have heard it over and over again. If everyone called Rep Clere that he represents at one time can you imagine how long it would take for him to get back in touch with us?

Don't get so frustrated, please, about not engaging in person. That point is not being ignored. Maybe some don't feel the need to engage with you in person.

There. Nicely put.

Legal Beagle,

I noticed that you tied my blog, "The Voice of the People" with another blog, NAC. At first glance it looked like you were saying that both were administered by the same person. Then I realized that you meant that the administrator of NAC posts on "Voice" also.

I just wanted to clarify for anyone else who may also be confused that I am the only administrator of VOP and the only author of articles.

I am aware of the mean spirited comments on VOP and I try to keep things as civil as humanly possible. If you read my blog regularly you are certainly aware of this.

Please don't take this as criticism. I just wanted to make my point clear.

And Legal, you are welcome over at VOP any time. Your comments are always insightful and entertaining.

Since he says my councilman is not the right candidate and with his obsession to take him out, let's see if he has the guts to take him on.

The more that I read of legal beagles article the more I see his point of view that Rogers attacks against others and my councilman Price IS truely Cyber-bullying.

NEW ALBANY — Why pay for parking when the tickets are free?

Mayor Doug England has called off enforcement of New Albany’s two-hour parking limit downtown, citing a need to encourage and foster commerce by not issuing violations to people that may be parking in the area to shop or dine.

But before that decree was ordered by England last year, hundreds of tickets were written for parking violations, yet the fines were never collected.

One of the biggest offenders has been New Albany attorney Stephen Beardsley, who according to records obtained by The Tribune, accumulated about 300 tickets for downtown parking violations worth more than $24,000 since 2006.

City Attorney Shane Gibson said he hasn’t ruled out pressing legal action on some of the top ticket-holders in the city, but added the biggest violators received their citations downtown and the administration has shied away from having police officers issue tickets in that general area.

When are the Citizens of this community going to stand up and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Anonymous said...

When they announce they're running for office on or before Feb. 18th. You can bet your sweet biffy it won't be the progressives running. They like being cyper-bullies.

Anonymous said...

In the we-make-our-own-rules world of inner circle nepotism, this whole thing shouldn't surprise us. Why, Beardsley put up TWO Shane Gibson signs in his windows last fall. This is the buddy system. We're playing with the BIG BOYS!

Anonymous said...

These people need to answer to the taxpayer for this sort of favoritism. Why on earth would we excuse Beardsley's $24,000 in fines? This is an outrage! The, next thing we know, the England administration will be asking us for money for this or that, or something will be underfunded, just like it so often is.

Has it ever occurred to any of you that we need to collectively OBJECT to this sort of thing? Or, are we afraid, as Anon 12:54 said, of the "BIG BOYS"?

I don't understand why Beardsley, who lives downtown and has the means to walk any distance and to pay his parking fees, would not be required to do so. Signs in his windows or not, he should fork it over.

No wonder New Albanians are getting ripped off.

As for that Shane Gibson, he's not even an elected official. How is it that HE gets to decide policy for the city? Who made him king?

All this stuff we've been hearing and reading about lately just leave a very bad taste in the mouth. Something very odd about all of it.

Anonymous said...

As some1 who has paid their parking tickets and street sweeper tickets, I hold no ill will against Beardsley (even tho he supported Shane).

The thing is the Administration should have made allotments in the law for people who live in the buildings downtown like Beardsley. He lives and works down there. Do you know how much money we have spent trying to get people to live in those particular buildings.

My blame goes to the Admin for not thinking about THAT be4 they put the law in place.

Just like handicapped spots at the City-County bldg. We need more of them and less ticketing of those.

But that is just my thoughts.

Anonymous said...

The law is the law and should apply to everyone, no matter where they live. The City should try and get people to live anywhere in the city not just downtown. I live on a street that has street sweeping, so are you saying I should never have to pay a ticket if my car is not moved on street sweeping day?

Anonymous said...

Nah, I'm not saying that lol.

Anonymous said...

I think he's screwed no matter what. Thank you City Planner. Though I'd like to see the other names.

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately, while I hold no particular ill will toward Beardsley, I recognize an unequal set of rules for supporters of the England administration and the rest of us. I, too, live on a street that has street sweeping. I've been ticketed twice. And I've paid twice. The rest of the time, I move my car. Where I live on Beeler Street, there's not really any convenient place to park my car, but I move it, and then walk around the corner and down half a block back home. Two hours later, I head out to do errands and park my car back.

You see, those among us who are law abiding citizens do our best to figure out how to make ourselves work WITH the law, not try to avoid obeying it.

And, while I hold no "ill will" against Beardsley in particular, I do hold Gibson responsible for waffling on enforcement and for showing favoritism. It's not the way to run a city. Either we have the laws or we don't. And if they apply to me, then they need to apply to Beardsley too.

Anonymous said...

And, I agree.

Anonymous said...

I agree too. I've paid for about 10 tickets over the past two summers when I was still a student. Makes me feel like I've been taken. How can I pay my bills and this Beardsley guy owe $24,000 and gets a wink and a nod. That Gibson must not be very honest, or England, or whoever is making up the rules.
