Is there a need for another blog in New Albany? Why, sure. There is always a need for people to stand up and be counted no matter what. Too many issues; too many people ignoring the issues for the sake of their businesses; too many people beholding to people in office.
Our monies spent by local government will always be a hot topic. Too much of it is missing and unaccounted for.
I only ask you to try and stick to the issues or topics at hand; keep an even tempered keel; try not to cuss; and don't worry about who set this blog up. This blog is the peoples' blog and enables them to have a voice without fear of retaliation. It should work better than the other blogs where people do know who is publishing, I feel.
Not to change the subject, but a Political Action Committee (PAC) has been formed in New Albany and the powers to be would like nothing better than to figure out who belongs to this group. There is no way a PAC will ever be favorable to our local officials when it's purpose is to root out corruption, ignorance and greed. I say more power to them.
So, let the blogging begin and to all - SALUTE!

We do need another blog, desperately. No one is taking on the real issues. Thanks.
Thank you, for taking the time and using your talent to bring us a new
format to learn what is really going on in our city.
Yes-- there are too many unanswered
questions on the operation of our city. We hope this format will tell
the taxpayers what is really going on
here.
This blog site has a unique idea.
"Let us ask all of our public officials to come out from under the table and lay the facts ON the table.
I think we will probably have to drag them out from under the table or smoke them out. "They" aren't going to come willingly, lol. Too well entrenched and too damn comfortable.
If ONLY they did know the facts rather than believing everything the Administration tells them. Isn't it a shame only Price and McLaughlin know the financial status of the City? And, McLauhlin only knows because taxpayers TOLD HIM SO.
Crying shame to be that far in the red and no one and I mean no one, except Price, willing to be responsible. Downright sickening. I can not imagine being that far in debt and willy nilly vote for anything and everything England wants.
Makes me sick.
How much I will enjoy all these know-it-all, self-righteous, hyprocritical people when they get egg on their faces because they don't have a clue what they are talking about. I am trying to keep the thought as long as they keep talking about Steve the stronger he gets.
Thanks for mentioning all the hard work are local citizens group has done for our city. I applaud who ever they are and appreciate them fighting for my family and me.
And, it truly is a fight. And, it's down and dirty. But hey, someone has to do it. Education is a wonderful thing and we have a lot of it to do.
There is always more than one way of looking at issues and often more than one benfit to a course of action. It's time we take our city back. I love our city and the one thing I have learned to believe that everyone who lives here...is a part of it and the likes and dislikes of each person ought to be considerated. The needs of each person as well instead of what and who benefits. It seems to be only a few benefits financially in out city and nothing gets done.
1. A citizens group is something we have never had in this town. It's way past due.
2. I think what is confirmed by our local PAC, this city is doing the same thing it was doing 18 years ago.
3.Many of my neighbors want city staff to present "options" for council to consider rather than one recommendation. But from my understanding that's not the system. The system in New Albany it's my way or the highway. Don't like it...then move.
4. We have a dysfunctional council, a crooked Mayor, lazy police officers, an old controller who only cares about keeping a job and a group of progressives who only wants a hand out.
nuff said.
You want to talk about what's closest to destroying New Albany? Local politicians spouting off borderline-seditious bull****. Plus the local progressive linerals are doing everything in their power to over throw this city. They have no principals or sense of personal responsibilty only a sense of entitlement.
There are to many uninformed, and under-informed and those who are incapable of alyrting their mindset on any subsative issue is of no benfit to the city. I think it is time for for this mayor to resign or be kicked out or what ever it is they do. In my opinion, proves his (England's) ignorance and we as a city need to get rid of him.
Arguments are good, debate is good, and criticusm is good. It is what keeps politicians accountable for their actions and their opinions. But seriously, debate facts, not myths.
lmao
It's very difficult to parse your comments due to your inability to write above a 4th grade level. If you wish others to take what you have to say seriously, you may want to work on that.
Bite me assh***
My kitchen table issue is this; the city failed to do billing as it should and there's no way to justify what they've done by raising our rates.
When the city can't even keep it's own streets clean-it can be very embarrassing! DNA organized a 1 day clean up event to do the work of a taxpayer funded city payroll. tsk, tsk.
Be careful going after the corruption in NA. You may not know who you are dealing with (and against).
That is the problem of city workers not doing the work, bar owners not cleaning up, and resturants throwing out trash, but then if business owners were not such jerks and cleaned up after themselves there would be less for city workers to do.
My issue is with The Tribune. I'm sorry to say that as a resident of New Albany, I am dissatisfied with they're sick hand-crafted England press releases and strategized media minipulation - what actually happens at council meeting are rarely correct in our newspaper. I had no idea until I attended a recent council meeting and than read the paper the following day.
My issue is this.
Name one developer that has done anything to the infrastructure other than to burden it with a new building with no improvement to the sewers and roads.
Mayor England destroyed New Albany one lie at a time.
My concern is all this debt we are putting on out children and grand children. Who can afford these high rates and fees. Has anyone heard of the 2010 Budget has been approved?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING MADE THIS SITE.
The Price is Wrong and Matt Nash is Right. You call this Journalism? I am sure that if you asked them why they act the way they do, they would have no real answer. Perhaps calling others names give then a tingle in their pants.
Have you read the Tribune article about a tour of Mayor England's house for a $30.00 ticket ?
What is that all about ?
I heard him say his utility bills were a $1,000 a month. And, here I thought Garry was getting them a check compliments of us taxpayers.
Times are hard you...know.
Your blog will make a great difference to many of us I am sure. I so appreciate all that you do.
Everyone has an opinion and here is mine. No one trust the Mayor that I know of. Thanks to CFA PAC, for all your hard work, and making tough decisions on the issues that affect each and everyone of us, not just some of us. Where can I send a donation?
Great name for a blog. Kitchen table issues are what everyone talks about – but not only at the kitchen table. It is especially about what affects our pocket books and takes away the money for the food for our kitchen tables. How can we keep more money in our pocketbooks? Please let the discussions begin.
Two points:
The 800 pound gorilla is still in office (England).
85% is police and fire and is the largest chuck of our budget. Which indicates cost effective services is broken.
And just where is the council in all of this? The devil is always on the detail and this council and the England adminidtration for this mess.
The questions "Why" and How" need to be answered.
City and County citizens did have one very active PAC group years ago - Taxpayer Action Group (TAG). Mildred Wilson (who died in 1997 from Cancer) was the person most known in that group of activists. They held officials feet to the fire including the city, county, flood control, school administration, and library in order to keep tax rates with in reason for all of New Albany and Floyd County.
The current PAC, Citizens for Accountability, is following in those footsteps. I know they have a special guardian angel watching over them, and she is cheering them on in a big way.
Susan
I heard she (Mrs. Wilson) was an outstand human being. It takes guts to fight city hall. I attended two recent council meetings and I have to say Mrs. Denhart can make everyone understand what she is saying. My husband even commented after the meeting; that Mrs. Denhart made loads of sense, unlike some of those council member. He could not understand why the Tribune does not print what is really going on at those meetings.
