Some gossip for you...rumor has it Pat Linck is back working in Mayor Gahan's office.

Not sure, but rumor has it our police contract is up for negotiations; may possibly already be expired.

Anonymous said...

No big deal about the contract 11:06. The city never negotiates on time anyway. The old contract stays in effect till a new one is signed.

Anonymous said...

When does the state law go into effect that will cause Ted Heavrin to resign from the department?

Anonymous said...

Oh, yes, gossip. Because that's not petty.

Anonymous said...

Ted is great for this community. I hope he never retires.

Anonymous said...

The new law goes into affect July 1,2012. If there is one person running who is unfit to hold office that is Ted Heavrin. I put him on the same list as Jeff Gahan. A liar and a loser.

Anonymous said...

I am a democrat but come Nov. I will vote every unfit democrat out.

A NA Democrat said...

My favorites are, Ed Clere, Lois Endris and Becky Gardenour. It's ashame Mrs. Gardenour didn't run for mayor she would have cleaned house by now.

Anonymous said...

Pat Link is back part-time. I'm waiting for Gahan to give England a job.

ROFLMAO

Anonymous said...

Kay Garry is back too!!!!

Anonymous said...

Did Patty Walker get fired on her school crossing job and then rehired again Gahan trying to cover his mistakes.

Anonymous said...

Everyone needs to try the restaurant the GREEN DOOR in corydon!!! It is great you pay what you think the meal is worth and it is worth it.

Anonymous said...

I think JONATHON GEORGE would be a great candidate for us

Anonymous said...

10:04- Interesting strategy.

Anonymous said...

I am interested in learning more about Jonathan George. He is the one that I find most appealing so far. He seems like he's got a great background.

Anonymous said...

I am supporting Mr. Clere.

Democrat for Pence said...

Mike Pence for Governor. He's the best candidate.

Anonymous said...

I guess Garry and Link can't afford their own health care. They are nothing but leaches on us taxpayers.

Go away bitches.

Anonymous said...

Now, now lets play nice boys and girls. We have much to thank these two women.

Anonymous said...

Oooops typo: we have much to thank these two women for.

Anonymous said...

Stay classy, kt commenters.

Anonymous said...

Yell right, Jeff just needs to know where all the bodies and monies are buried.

Anonymous said...

I can't wait for Ed Clere to get out. He is horrible. Just says NO to anything that is good for people. He is all about the corporate interests and not workers.

Anonymous said...

Larry, your stupid union IS a corporate interest. It's high time someone actually care about the PEOPLE who WORK instead of the corporate interests.

Funny how union nuts like you, Larry, think businesses that hire people are corporate interests and that unions are the people.

Unless you're a union boss, you're not getting anything out of your union, you peeping Tom.

Anonymous said...

I can't decide between Gregg and Pence. Gregg is the Democrat. I like Pence though. Can't decide.

Roger's right. You're not getting what your bosses are out of your union.

Tell me more about Jonathan George. I don't know anything about him. I see signs.

Speaking of signs, ever notice the number of Streigel signs in the right of way. Whatever happened to cleaning up the signs. I agree with Roger about the signs.

Anonymous said...

After Ted put his hand on his gun over the Warren Nash deal I was done with him. I'm supporting Clemons.

Anonymous said...

Ed Clere all the way. This guy makes things happen. Who got the $6.7 million for housing? Ed Clere not England or Carl.

Anonymous said...

Yep. I agree about Ed. Ed's the best.

Anonymous said...

Pence is not like daniels----big on social issues--religion

Anonymous said...

I wish Daniels would of run for president.

I like Ed too.

I don't like that Winningham guy. He's in bed with the good old boys and he's riding the coattails of Lee Hamilton.

Anonymous said...

According to his on-line bio, Jonathan George is a retired Air Force brigadier general and he served on the president's national security staff. He also has a masters degree from Harvard. I have never met the man, but I like what I know about him so far.

Anonymous said...

Well, I WON'T be voting for Dennis O Roudenbush. He always has signs all over the place, in the right of ways and he puts them in people's yard because he assumes that if were Democrats we support him. That doesn't fly with me OR my wife.

One other thing, Gibson's campaign was the dirtiest and nastiest and most disgusting thing we ever had here. I will NOT help out. I did last time because it was expected that I would. Like a good Democrat, I did. Up to a point, then I quit.

I have some knowledge that this woman they think they're going to sick after Ed Clere is getting help from none other than Connie Sipes. Sipes is bad news. She has been going around asking and saying a lot of things that look like their planning the same old sh*t they did for Shane. Lies and crap. I think I'm going to sign up to help the Clere campaign. They'd probably faint or they wouldn't maybe let me help, but I'm NOT helping Sipes.

Anonymous said...

Ed Clere did not put the purposal together to get the 6.7 million. Ed may be telling people that he did but that is not so!!!!!
I have called Ed Clere several times no response. I am not saying the candidates running against him will beat him we just do not have much to choose from. Ed better get ready someone is preparing and they are just abiding time and gathering all info on Ed. And they are not involved in the good ole boy system!!!!

Anonymous said...

VOTE JOHNATHON GEORGE !!!!!
Winningham could not even get the endorsement from Lee Hamilton .

Anonymous said...

FYI 12:36 Carl screwed the whole grant up and Mr. Clere took the bull by the horn and fixed it and got it through. Ed git the funding NOT none of the morons here. Get your facts straight.

Clere has my vote and my husbands vote too.

Anonymous said...

I want to know why Gahan is getting rid of David Brewer so he can put his brother inlaw in his job.

These a$$holes are getting pensions and SS, how about leaving Brewer alone and hiring better qualified people instead of relatives.

Anonymous said...

Ed does not listen. He is only in it for the insurance.

Anonymous said...

Ed did not ride in on his white horse for any 6.7 million dollar grant. He may have your vote but your info is wrong!!!!

Anonymous said...

I have heard nothing but nice things about David Brewer. The person i talked with said he works hard for the city and is moving the Building Inspector's office in the right direction. I hope Gahan does'nt play the political card and put someone in there who takes the Building Inspectors office backwards. That person told me that went on with the city fire department all the years ron toran was fire chief. taking that department backwards. He told me since the new fire chief was put in 5 years ago the fire dept. has improved greatly with new equipment, new radios and new fire trucks. Whoever the new chief is keep up the good work and we all should be wanting to move New Albany ahead. Not backwards. Leave David Brewer alone

Anonymous said...

I believe gahan kept the fire chief under england.

Sharon Lee Graboski is a nice person--a former teacher which explains sipe's support

It is sic not sick.

I still do not know of any relatives hired.

Anonymous said...

You know quite a lot, 10:21. Your name Susie Gahan? Susie Gahan, Doug England, Warren Nash, Bruce Hibbard, Connie Sipes. Nice list of good old good olds.

Anonymous said...

My vote is for Jonathan George. He came to the Democratic Christmas Dinner. He sat next to me to eat his dinner. He came down hear from his farm up near north. He said that he did not know anyone there and spent about an half hour talking to me, my boyfriend, and grandparents. He was such as nice man and seemed very sincere.

He is very concerned about jobs and spoke to my boyfriend and I who are college graduates that have had a hard time finding good paying jobs since graduating in 2009.

He told us that Winningham was from Texas and recently moved here. Jonathan George was born and raised in Indiana and came back here after serving our country, but he never really left Indiana because he had his farm in Indiana as a second home.

Joe Somebody said...

Kay Garry and Pat Link are both back. Mayor Gahan hired his soon to be son in law as flood control supervisor, his campain manager as head of city operations, was going to hire his sister as his secretery, now he is going to hire his brother in law as builing commissoner? What the bleep? Brewer is a moron and needs to be replaced, but can't you find someone other than your wife's brother? The City has not been hiring fairly at all. There should be adds put out for specfic jobs that need to be filled, not just filling them with your inner circle. And while Mayor Gahan has been busy hiring all his friends and family and giving them top salaries for doing next to nothing the other city employees are being overloaded with extra work and underpaid!

Anonymous said...

Perhaps if you folks could spell, you'd have a better shot at getting a job?

Anonymous said...

Ok 4:09. Someone does his job very well and you call him a moron. Sounds like the moron is making the comment on this blog. Brewer is an ex-builder. Knows building construction very well and has had a lot of older homes demolished in the city. Sounds like doing a great job to me.Do you even live in the city? Keep this city going in the right direction. The old pat my back politics in New Albany needs to stop. Something that isn't broke does'nt need replacing.

Anonymous said...

As usual, this blog is full of lies. The brother-in-laws have jobs and are not interested in working for the city. Someone is just making up stuff. None of that is even close to the truth. Oh, by the way, a future som-in-law is not a relative.

Anonymous said...

Perhaps if you folks got elected Mayor, you could hire people you choose to work with as well. You should probably brush up on your writing skills first.

Anonymous said...

Hell yea the fire. Chief has a better reputation after bleeding the city dry. Crying about why there job is more important than mine!!!! Bunch of crying babies that don't want to be home with their families. Let's put them on 8 hour shifts so they can't start that side job!!!! New Albany is heading for a train wreck and Gahan is aboard he did not do anything in 8 years on the council and won't committ or make the tough decisions now with public safety.

Anonymous said...

I have never seen city employees so unhappy walking on egg shells Gahan should be so proud!!!!

Anonymous said...

I suggest that the people who work for the city get out of that box their is a whoe world out there that would love to have you. Your self confidence in yourself would explode. Don't be small minded and fall in that rat trap like the other ones have.

Anonymous said...

I suggest they quit their cushy jobs with great benefits and seek employment elsewhere. It must be awful to workf for a mayor who expects you to actually do something.

You can't call me a moocher said...

Speaking as someone who no longer works for the city, I can tell you that it pays to be in the club. If you're not in the club, you get left behind. There is a HUGE good old boys club in New Albany and it extends outside of City Council meetings and the Mayor's office into parts of the county. It is also very strong on the school board. Personally, I'd rather get a job on my own merit. Also, I'd sure be interested to see how these same moochers would do in a real job interview.

Anonymous said...

Hitler? Really? That is just stupid.

Anonymous said...

There's no way in hell I'll vote for Winningham. Here's why. Dickey and Gibson are helping the Winningham campaign. So, when some of our good old boy buddies (oh, shock, look! England, Sipes, Cochran are hard at it!) went to the Jonathan George campaign to offer him their support in exchange for Washington jobs for Dickey and Gibson, it seemed a little odd. A little birdie told me that Jonathan George told them, "I've heard of you good old boys. Absolutely not. Go away."

They work so hard on grabbing power.

Wow.

Anonymous said...

whoever is working for gahan is either stupid, lazy or one of the good ole boys, oh yeh also related to him or soon to be related.

I think that Ed has done a great job for us. He's also a dreamboat. I just love that deep voice of his.

Anonymous said...

This crap about Winningham is ridiculous. We're told to vote for him because he trained under Lee Hamilton. Yeah, right. We're told he created jobs in Texas. Big whoop-di-do. They say he understands the public sector totally and this is supposed to impress us. I hear he understands the need for strong partnerships, which explains why he has Dickey by his side constantly. Last, he has a wonderful family with his wife Meredith, sons Gray and Reed; and he is a good and honest man. Well, by all that reasoning, I might as well vote for Todd Young all over again. He has a family and understands the need for partnerships and is good and honest. Or maybe for Dubya. I could have voted for Dubya with reasoning like that. He has a wonderful family and so on and so forth.

I'm sick of Winningham. He's a good old boy. Hope Jonathan George wins.

Anonymous said...

adam dickey sells aflac and gahan is a lame duck, so are the good ole democrat boys.

Anonymous said...

@ 11:38 I agree completely. What a hottie.

Anonymous said...

wow that's all we need is leaches who work or have worked for the city to climb the ladder of politics and work at the state level. Gibson and Dickey You've got to be kidding. How many mayors has Dickey worked for. Talk about someone who would'nt make it in the real work force. And gibson. Will he work a job where he won't make less than 150K a year? We already have a local in Indy. Tony Bennett. And look at the almighty things he has done. Here we are closing schools. Laying off teachers. And the state is giving vouchers by using our tax money to let poor kids go to private schools. Oh wait. Did'nt he go to a private school. I wonder how many voucher kids are going to providence? So lets lay off the public school teachers and use tax money to send kids to private schools. That makes all the sense in the world. But who said politicions had any sense.

Anonymous said...

I'm voting for George period.

More Wasteful Spending said...

Who prey tell is going to empty the new trash cans? Who authorized all these stupid benches? Was it paid with our tax dollars? Who's idea was this? With all the problems of our city why is this money being spent? With only eight street department employees how are they going to have time to empty them all when they're busy planting a sapling at 1117 E. Spring street. Good God, does he have to beg for free be's and have us taxpayers pay for all his demands.

Anonymous said...

And this person wanting freebee's is who ?

Anonymous said...

Um, good spelling and grammar are expected over the age of 12. That's not a Baylor thing. But, feel free to keep making an ass out of yourself.

Anonymous said...

Tony Bennett has done a great job helping kids. It's about time someone did. There aren't teachers being laid off. Anyone saying that is lying. School closings were caused by population changes and because the school board hired that Superintendent Hibbard and he decided to push the neighborhood schools closed. I also don't think vouchers have anything to do with Tony Bennett going to Providence. I heard somewhere that this year we had like 12 kids going to schools with vouchers. I doubt Providence has very many of them when you look at all the elementary schools. Also, I know about some very poor neighborhoods full of black kids it seems no one cares about. They are in Indianapolis. I'm black so I've noticed. Kids finally get a chance to get out of schools that won't help them get anywhere and go to private schools. Maybe unlike me those kids will make it to college or to other places where they can learn a good trade. The thing that has impressed me the most is that Tony Bennett has done what he has done and did it while a bunch of fussy people have been very rude to him. Yes Tony Bennett has done a fine job.

Anonymous said...

Sorry, not a Tony Bennett fan, and wasn't when he was down here...though, I completely respect your argument.

Anonymous said...

That's a good one.

Anonymous said...

that's what this blog is. An opinion page. I think he stinks and you like him. Same thing with taxes. I don't think we should pay taxes towards schools and then pay for kids to go to private schools with that tax money. Private schools is a choice.there will always be areas where kids don't have exposure. That's where Mr. tony needs to work and make things better. I'm not a mitch danials fan either and he put him in there.

Anonymous said...

I'm voting for Winningham. George is a nice person but he is out of touch with the common people. The reason Winningham even moved to Texas was to help his parents. He did create 5,000 jobs in Texas, how many jobs did the other people create. We need someone with the right experience. We need Robert Winningham.

Anonymous said...

What is this Winningham person running for ?

Anonymous said...

The only reason you think private school is a "choice" is because around here the schools are so fine. I'm telling you that the schools in some places are so bad there is no choice and the black kids get left behind as usual. They have never been talking about this voucher thing as a thing to help the black kids in poor school districts but that's exactly what it does. The New Albany Floyd Schools are so good they're like a cadillac school compared with where some kids go. Being as that is the case, you won't see that many kids here use vouchers and it won't take away from the schools. I believe in vouchers and am so glad to see tax money actually go to get black kids off the track of quitting school and staying in poverty. I am really thankful. Until you've walked in the shoes of a mother who worries about her boy all day and night and prays he makes it home alive, you can't know how important this voucher bill is to poor kids. Just think about it, please, and stop trying to get rid of this help to the poor.

Anonymous said...

who's trying to get rid of it.I'm not. Just don't like it. Just read in the paper the other day that New Harmony High School is closing because your man mitch won't fund the corparation it's in. now all those kids lose their high school and have to be split up and go to other high schools. but that's ok as long as we have funds to send poor kids to private schools. sorry i have a problem with that. If there is a problem in Indy with the schools then fix the problem. Just dont move the kids.

Anonymous said...

You assume that private schools will accept struggling students. They don't want poor performers. They don't want special education students. They aren't required to accommodate physically handicapped and they don't want behavior issues. They can pick and choose the best students and leave the rest for underfunded public schools. It is a death spiral. Who was in support of the nation's largest voucher program? Daniels, Bennett, Clere, Grooms, and Rhodes. Candidate Pence wants to expand the privatization of public schools. They have trashed education in Indiana.

Anonymous said...

@7:43
What an ignorant post. NO ONE wants behavior issues.

As a matter of cold, hard fact, local Catholic schools do not "pick and choose the best students and leave the rest for underfunded public schools."

In the first place, my sister, who is now retired from her job as a Catholic School principal, told me many times how they struggle to stay afloat and that they don't turn anyone away, even funding through parish donations MANY poor students. Catholic schools were begun as mission schools to lead people to the church, ESPECIALLY poor kids. Unfortunately, they struggle for their very survival (you've seen as SMK has closed and opened and struggled). Catholic schools don't get all the funding public schools get. They are often unable to accommodate physically handicapped or special education students, but do so in many instances with little public assistance and do it with the same love and sense of mission as ANY teacher, public or private.

Public schools have become a Goliath. NAFC schools is an administration-heavy, union-bullied institution where you have money wasted on bogus positions like "Director of High Schools" (whatever that is), while giving lip service but precious little help to the kids who really need it.

You will not find much sympathy for the argument that "public schools are under assault by the likes of Daniels, Bennett, Clere, Grooms and Rhodes." Too many people are too sick and tired of rhetoric and constant whining for more money. People are sick and tired of paying over 50 cents on every tax dollar to public schools while worrying about other things like police and fire protection, rising costs of just about everything, and, most of all, an ever-growing senior population.

Start reading real facts instead of ISTA email blasts written in all caps.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I don't get how the public school people can look themself in the face with all the lies they keep telling us.

Anonymous said...

And one other person who keeps lying to us is Baylor. He's talking so much about tolls and hates the bridges so much that now I WANT tolls. It will be worth it to have tolls if Baylor moves away from here.

Baylor, public school people, England, Gahan and the City Council. They are all a bunch of nasties.

Anonymous said...

There. Finally something people will talk about.. Public schools will always be there. Private and Catholic schools depend on money from tuition. I spent a lot of money sending my kids through catholic grade schools and i still paid my taxes for public schools. The NA-FC schools are set up where 80% of the money is for teachers and 20% is for administration. That's why Hibbert got such a sweet raise. 20% of their budget is a nice pot to pay the small amount of administration costs with money to burn. And make up a cushy spot for Louie Jenson just to over look New Albany and Floyd Central and make sure the principal's are doing their job's and communcating. I was told they want teachers from Floyd Central to visit during the summer on their own time teachers from New Albany that teach the same classes and swap ideas. The teachers won't do it unless the are compinsated for their time. Of course that was an idea from an administrator. I wonder if he will visit other school corp. on his own time and swap ideas with those people ? On his own time ! yeah right. That's why our shcool system is in such disarray. Stupid people running the show.

School Sorry

Anonymous said...

I graduated from NAHS in 2002. We were always the poor school. Nobody seemed to care about us. I wanted to be in plays, so I did that. There were some kids that were in the AP classes. Not very many though. The rest of us were pretty much lumped together and given up on. I never had one teacher say something really good about me. At the time we went to high school the teachers were suppose to send out cards telling our parents good things about us. I got one. It said that I did my homework on time. Big deal.

I wish I could tell the administration of the school that I'm poor I'm black and my dad can't work and I deserve a chance too. I deserved a chance back then I mean. Now I have a chance. I am going to Ivy Tech and learning some of the things I did not learn in NAHS or at Silver Street School. They didn't care much about me there either.

My mom says the school people put up a big talk but the proof is that I have had a hard time getting along. I got through NAHS without being able to read and learned how later. It took me a very long time as an adult. Now I can read but my grammer isn't good and I still struggle to spell and write.

This is what they have done for me. I am a regular African-American girl who grew up in a regular place and graduated from high school and couldn't read. They truely let us down. I am not alone.

Anonymous said...

When religious schools must accept all children and are held to the same standards as public schools, then it would be fair. Now, it is a way to take money away from public schools to bail out religious schools. The Catholic schools have more money now than they know what to do with. Look it up. I don't see them helping any "poor" kids around here.

Anonymous said...

@ 5:47 AM You are not alone. I was not black, but I was let down many years ago by New Albany schools. I am sorry you have had so much to do, but you're working hard and you WILL make it. Please keep writing on here!

@ 6:00 AM Which is it. Do Catholic schools need bailing out or do they "have more money than they know what to do with." Which is it?

You can't have it both ways, but this is the very kind of rhetoric I hear and read out of the public school personnel.

Anonymous said...

It is Hibbard. And most of the teachers at Floyd Central would have a very tough time teaching at New Albany.

Anonymous said...

Hibbard is disgusting.

Ron Grooms is his buddy. It looks to me like Ron Grooms might be behind some of this nasty rhetoric.

The other one who seems in cahoots with Hibbard is Jeff Gahan. I saw them one day at Quills. Looked to me like they were having a great time talking about something.

These people all disgust me.

Anonymous said...

As someone who used to be on the board of Education at a local catholic school, I can tell you that not all catholic school have a lot of money. It depends on the funding of the church. If you have a poor church, you have a poorly funded school.

Also, Catholic Schools do not turn away special needs children if they have the resources to help said children. If you had a special needs child would you want to send them to a school with no Special Ed. teachers?

I also do not agree with the voucher system. It is only a way to avoid the existing problems within our school systems and by siphoning that funding away from the public schools makes the problems even worse. You also don't fix a school system by hiring high priced administrators or by creating useless high priced jobs for friends of the administration. Also, we as parents need to take a look at ourselves and be willing to accept some accountability for our students poor performance. We have become so soft with our kids that we no longer expect them to accept responsibility for what they do, or don't do, and when they fail we blame everyone else.

Our state education system is in such a mess, perhaps it's time for us take a good hard look at what other States and Countries with thriving education systems are doing and rebuild our system from the top down.

Anonymous said...

I agree with you, 9:18 about accepting accountability. No one wants to accept responsibility for his or her part in educating our children. Everyone plays the blame game. I actually agree with the voucher system though. Kids in those poor inner city schools don't have time to wait till a school improves. They don't have time to get a better chance. Also, the system is so entrenched with automatic rewards for any teacher, even bad ones. I wouldn't want to be a teacher anywhere, not Floyd Central or New Albany or at a Catholic School, so I do agree they have a tough job. Just not so tough that they need to keep asking for more money. Let them start showing what they can do with what they have. Let them make the most of the funding in their classrooms. And I agree 7:18. It's Hibbard taking the money and paying his administrators and himself TOO MUCH. Way too much. It should be against the law what they've done.

Anonymous said...

Interesting conversation. One word for why the schools are screwed up. UNION.

Anonymous said...

The schools touch us pretty deeply because they affect the future of our kids. I wish I could qualify for a voucher and send my boys to one of those really good private schools. We make too much money. I would love to send them there though.

I agree with 11:48 that the union is a problem. When my sister was still in school at Floyd Central a few years ago and the teachers were negotiating contracts and wouldn't do parent-teacher conferences and other stuff they usually do, my dad was pretty furious and neither of them will ever listen to a single one of their complaints about needing "more funding." All the teachers union ever does is whine and the bottom line is they always want more money.

Now I've got two boys in kindergarten and 2nd grade. Their teachers are very good, but they do complain from time to time.

That person who graduated from New Albany in 2002-I feel for them. It's really sad to get all the way through school and still feel helpless because of something as basic as being able to read. When I was at FCHS we knew NAHS was the "poor school" and we also felt relieved we weren't going there. Looking back, I realize we had a culture of snobbiness at Floyd Central. We thought we were better.

I'm very sorry about that now. Good luck to her (the NAHS 2002 graduate) and I hope she realizes all her dreams!

Anonymous said...

I do think it's worth differentiating between 'the Union' and the teachers. The teachers may be part of the union, but it is the union leadership that causes much of the issue...not the teachers themselves.

Anonymous said...

And what issues are those? The teachers have not had a raise in three years--unlike the superintendent. And will not get one anytime soon. Pay for earning advanced degrees (at their own expense) will disappear in 2014
The teachers have had class size increases, more workload including in and out of the school day. There are a record number of retirements in the school system this year. One reason is that there is less support than ever with regard to disipline in the classroom and in school in general because they do not want to get rid of a money maker and a test taker.

Anonymous said...

Tony Bennett must go. He has ruined education in Indiana. Get rid of his buddies Clere and Grooms too.

Anonymous said...

2:57 these are the very reason schools were closed.

FYI, teacher's did get a 3% raise right before they closed schools.

Don't blame Clere and Grooms blame the teachers and the unions.

Anonymous said...

Our legislators cut funding by 600 million dollars. That says it all. It is not about unions. It is not about kids. It is about not spending money. Even when the money was "found" this year, they still failed to do the right thing. Epic fail.

Anonymous said...

7:43, Mr. Kenya (Obama) got into Harvard with a C average. Go figure that one out.

Anonymous said...

Really... Three percent three years ago. Wow. Makes me want to be a teacher!

Anonymous said...

I hope they toll too.

Anonymous said...

And guess what 4:58, they got the best of the best in healthcare too. Lowest co pay in the state. So tell me why I should feel sorry for them.

More people should start attending School Board meetings.

Anonymous said...

I plan to vote for Mrs. Gardenour she's the best school board member on there.

Anonymous said...

WEll the teachers union is not the problem. The adminastration is the problem. Unions are good for what they do. Protect the worker from being exploited. There are to many rules and regulations for the teachers to be teachers. Problem kids ! send them to the office. Contact the parents let them know whats going on. The big thing now with the parent-teachers confrence is it's all done by e-mail. If the parents ask for a meeting they will get it. But parents thinks the schools are a babysitting service and don't care. Responsibility starts at the top. And we all know who that is.

Anonymous said...

Ed Clere, Diane B and Gardenhour all have better insurance and they work part time . Sweet deal.

Gahan knew what was going on for 8 years on the council looks like Jeff did not do his job there either. Gahan you are going down, I would keep a look out over your shoulder where ever you may be. People in every circle is talking about you and believe me it's not good. Someone said if they was a recall law in Indiana we should recall YOU!!!

Anonymous said...

And they have BS degrees-masters degrees and beyond---they should have good health benefits. But it is NOT as good as a lot of private industry health care. When I came to work for the schools, from the private sector, it was the worst health insurance I had ever had.

Anonymous said...

GOOD JOB MAYOR--Thanks for looking out for the city taxpayers. The county has been underpaying for years and cannot be trusted.

Anonymous said...

Actually the raise they got was 2.5----so they kept up with inflation for one year.

Anonymous said...

I want to put my thanks out to the city council, county council, and the commissioners for taking this step to the right direction for our park system. Gahan will never get another vote from my family my friends, or anyone I know.

Pat McLaughlin Voted no. Pats ked wants a job!!!
John Gonder. Voted no
Gregg Phipps. Voted no. Ask your boyfriend
Scott Blair. Voted no. Your playing field is gone

These four our next!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Gahan developed a round table session with Hubberd
And a few others. The city can not do anything about the school systems.
Gahan if you want involved then join it with your wife. Don't become a mayor.
Mayor has nothing to do with the school systems!!!!

Anonymous said...

I have talked to Mrs. Gardenhour before and she told me she does not have the school insurance. She gave it up more than two years ago during the budget crunch. Have the other board members done the same thing?

Anonymous said...

Gahan did the right thing. You people just gripe about everything he does. I appreciate his work on this issue.

Anonymous said...

His work on this !!! Gahan sat there for eight years and did nothing. You think because Gahan told you his opinion that it is gospel. This effects the quality of life for everyone. Our keds will be the ones that suffer. Gahan did not show up for one meeting on this, never showed up to interact about anything on this. Please recall this guy!!! If you cannot work with other governments to come to the table and talk about this something is wrong.
I hope that you get rid of Gahan, Robinson , Gibson .

Anonymous said...

Well, Baylor is jealous of a Gibson looks like. He said that you have to be a serial killer to make national news. Guess he finally figured out he don't matter.

Anonymous said...

Gahan an a round table with school administration that's a waste of time. Get down there and run our city because you are an embarrassment.
Teachers complain , Firefighters complain , the Police dept. complains, communication dept complains.
What a world we live in.

Anonymous said...

The word is "kids". "Keds" are shoes. Just sayin'. I only point it out since you made the same error twice.

Anonymous said...

Gahan instead of binging Pat Link back I am sure Pat McLaughlin son could answer the phone for you that would give you another boy guard because you are going to need them. Gahan only appts. people he can have power over not as equals get ready to sell your soul to the devil .

Anonymous said...

Jeff made the right decision. If I agree to a payment plan with someone, and then I don't pay for years and then give them an 'aw shucks, that's the past...let's make a new agreement and move forward...' WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD THEY ENTER INTO AN ANOTHER AGREEMENT WITH ME?

Same thing here with the parks agreement. I'm not sure why this doesn't get through some of your thick skulls.

Anonymous said...

O K 3:32 If you are going to say teachers, Firefighters, Police and Communications workers complain Then what are the complaints? I'm calling your bluff. That would be at least 4 different complaints. What's ya got.

Anonymous said...

Yell well, I'm not the one complainin, THEY are. Dummy.

Anonymous said...

Your complaining that they are complaining. Easy to say someone is complaining when you don't have the facts to back it up. DUMMY

Anonymous said...

5:19 you want to talk about agreements? Redevelopment still owes $3.2 million they borrowed to pay the TIF Bond for the parking garage. Then they borrowed $5.3 million from sewers and never paid it back. I hope they find all this when they statrted the new 'audit' today.

Where's our money and you folks are arguing over parks money.

Anonymous said...

No matter who gets voted into office money can be moved around to take care of city business. Hell Regina Overton and Bitch-Boy K. Beilein and Greg Lamar had two sets of books for city money. It happens all the time and nothing can be done about it.

Anonymous said...

wonder how long it will be that gahan is divorced, just watch seems the new mayor has a roving eye just like his teacher, the previous mayor.

Anonymous said...

I already know about one thing. But I also know that if I lived with a shrew like Susie Gahan, I'd develop a roving eye too.

Anonymous said...

What is a roving eye ? You mean roaming eye ? 3:33 are you saying our previous Mayor liked to fool around ? do you have any proof ?

Anonymous said...

What is the one thing you know about ?

Anonymous said...

Susie isn't that bad. She can't help she's married to Mr. Mayor. I think shes kinda Hot.

Anonymous said...

I have never met Susie, but I would like to. She looks very hot to me.

Anonymous said...

I've worked with Susie. She's a gossip and is basically a union hack. Nothing more. Oh, and for anyone interested, she's working her butt off to get school issues at the forefront of city attention.

Anonymous said...

No, moron, I meant ROVING EYE. Don't you know English?

Anonymous said...

What is she running for? I thought this was about elections. You people are ridiculous.

Anonymous said...

For those who are ignorant to think that behind every election there aren't many factions ready to push forward their own candidate, think again. Susie Gahan would love nothing better than to push the "right" people to put on the school board. Think about it. They pushed that Anderson woman. Now there's a complete idiot. She's got a low IQ plus is a gossip and busybody. She hates the only person on the school board who actually votes with a conscience. Mrs. Gardenour. Elections should be about the individuals. You have all proven again and again how they are about factions.

Anonymous said...

Keep it classy, Kitchen Fable.

Anonymous said...

We don't support every canidate that signs on to our party slate. Should we? We wouldn't be too classy if we did that. I agree with 9:39 about that Anderson woman. She's not too classy.

Union Hack? Adminstrators are not in the union. Education should be at the forefront. It is not and that is why New Albany is one of the poorer cities South of Indy.

Anonymous said...

happy derby gahan, from the horses mouth your nag mare is going to dump your ass, watch that roving/roaming eye especially that little hot blonde you call a city employee who is as dumb as a box of rocks.

and there off who is going to win, why its beetlebomb or bombshell

Anonymous said...

Yes! We need more advocates for children and education in this city.

Anonymous said...

even the keeler clan have disowned gahan

Anonymous said...

how come you vetoed the parks deal gahan isnt it a floyd county park where you used to get drunk underage and did the dirty with suzie?

Anonymous said...

3:25... You are just jealous because he is the mayor. Maybe you could run for office and get elected instead of running your stupid mouth on a lame blog.

Anonymous said...

Yep. Certainly is one of those little minded, little people!

Anonymous said...

Keep on dreaming, 4:21. Pervert.

Anonymous said...

"If I were a smarter blog administrator I would take the time and figure out how to put the links to each on here. Does that make me a bad blog administrator? Nah."

You can't even figure out basic decency.

Anonymous said...

Interesting that you've got excellent representation leading the charge for equitible school funding and you still fuss about being poor. NAFC does pretty darned well, actually. Consider the high-falutin job descriptions, pay and benefits of NAFC administration. As for teachers? If you don't think Susie G is a union hack, you're crazy. She LOVES the teachers union. Quotes their crap all over the place. I work in the same building and I can tell you she's nothing but a union hack. I get the mailings. They disgust me, so I don't repeat them. Susie is all over them, repeating every word. Our schools are messed up because of our School Board, Bruce Hibbard and the administration, and the union. I agree with 8:15.

Anonymous said...

Fairmont is one of the top title one schools in the state and has even won some national recognition---we probably have you to thank for that. Obviously you are not a teacher. Let me guess teacher aide?

Anonymous said...

You don't work at Fairmont. If you did, you would know she only talks about increasing opportunities and learning for all students. She is all about the school. You (6:50)can't repeat them because you have never seen the literature because you don't even work in a school. More lies. Some people will say anything when they don't get their way!

Anonymous said...

Wow. A little defensive aren't you?

I don't know about Fairmont or Susie Gahan, but I do know about some other people in some way connected to her husband. Some examples:

Pat Linck is now working in the Planning Committee Office. What's she doing there? I can hardly believe they'd hire her back, I assume, so she can keep the insurance Gahan rescinded. What could she possibly offer the Planning Committee?

Then there's stupid Shane Gibson. He's going around bragging that he makes more money under Gahan than he did under England. I heard this with my own ears. Now, how becoming is this behavior? Talk about arrogant.

And let's talk about Republicans. Irv Stumler (he is NOT a Democrat, his WIFE, Pat Leist, is a Democrat) has given the Steve Bush campaign $2,000!! Now, explain
that, why don't you?

Here's another bit of news. Mark Seabrook filed for an exploratory committee for mayor in 2016. Interesting, eh?

Now, you morons keep talking about lies and whatever crap you dream up. The schools are a complete mess. I don't work at Fairmont, but I know someone who took their kids out of Fairmont because it's a complete joke. I think they homeschool. either that or they went to a private school. Either way, it's pretty bad when anything else is better than your own public school. That says a lot about the schools, not about the people who care about their kids enough to go to all the trouble of finding a better thing for their kids school. The schools are a complete disaster.

8:21 -Susie Gahan was my 6th grade teacher. Best teacher ever! We are still friends today. You don't know half as much as you pretend. You are just mean.

suzie gahan is a phony, talks about the poor white trash at fairmont and the illegal mexicans dragging her school down but acts like she cares so much about her students, just like her phony husband

Anonymous said...

wow The blog has switched from bashing Roger Baylor to bashing Susie Gahan. Who will the next person be on Blog Bashing 101 ? Don't let anyone fool you. All around the teachers and administrators both haver it pretty good. Get a different state education leader and get rid of your man mitch and thing's might improve for everyone. But only time will tell.

Anonymous said...

3:44... Yes. That is why she chooses to spend her career there. You are a loser.

Anonymous said...

Jealous of Gahan wrong!!!!
In the paper today Steve Bonifer endorses Winningham well geuss what Winningham will never get my vote.
Bonifer is Gahans brother in law, I would not support anyone Linda and Steve Bonifer support or that fact Gahan supported. Gahan lies right to your face, oh by the way I will be running for mayor.

Anonymous said...

Oh Great.... Just what we need...an anonymous loser who sits around on a trashy blog running for mayor. No one wants someone like you to run for mayor. If you want to talk about a man's wife and family, at least be brave enough to say your name.

Anonymous said...

Yes, this conversation has gone a bit south I'd say. However, Susie Gahan is a poor mayor's wife. The evidence? She's rarely at any function that doesn't have something to do with schools, and when she is, she ignores all but her very closest friends, then zips (and I mean ZIPS) outta there as soon as she can. She doesn't want to talk with anyone, she doesn't get involved with the city, and she refuses to be so much as civil to other community leaders. Her behavior is strange and rude and she's certainly no first lady. Shrew was a good word someone on here said. Let's stick with that.

Anonymous said...

Yes I have noticed that----especially Ed Clere. She cannot stand to be in the same room with him. I do not blame her. I get sick every time I look at him.

Anonymous said...

I've never seen her anywhere near Mr. Clere, but there's certainly no reason to get sick of being in the same room with this humble and thoughtful and highly intelligent man. He has always been very kind to many people, even doing it when no one is looking. I'm very proud of Mr. Clere. It is very strange behavior for a local principal and wife of a local official to act rudely to any public official, especially one who is always friendly to everyone. I'd have to agree with 8:32 if she treats Ed Clere like that.

Anonymous said...

He follows her around all of the time !

Anonymous said...

Looks like Susie has a problem of some kind.

Anonymous said...

Ed Clere is kind to everyone? Obviously you dont see when he isnt and him and his wife talk behind peoples backs.

Anonymous said...

No. I've never heard either one of them talk behind people's backs. However, I'm glad KT can track all these comments. When it gets out what your name is 9:33, I'll be sure to find out the Cleres' phone numbers and give them a call.

Anonymous said...

Whatever in the h*ll your all talking about I don't know but what I want to hear more about is this $2000 for Bush. I thought Stumler was a Democrat now. Is it Democrat money he gave to Bush or did he just give his own money to Bush?

Anonymous said...

@ 9:39 When you find out what their name is, you should definitely call the Cleres. I have never, EVER heard them say a single word about Susie Gahan or any other person. I have never, EVER heard Amy or Ed Clere say anything negative about anyone, even people who are horrifically cruel and rude to them. I have never, EVER heard them put anyone down or make up stories about anyone. I have never seen them EVER snub anyone or act in any way unkind. I know them both very well. I have witnessed them with people at events and with their own family. Ed Clere serving in public office does not give people a license to make up slander about him and certainly not about his very classy and spunky wife. Both of these people give more to the community than most of you will ever know. Yes, 9:39, whoever is on here making nasty comments about Ed Clere and his wife needs to be outed. Think I'll call Amy right now. For heaven's sake. Stop being so wicked.

Anonymous said...

So typical of Amy. She told me not to worry about it and to stop reading it.

I will, but I ask that people please be nice on here.

Anonymous said...

I do not know. His votes in the legislature may not make me sick but at least queasy. No desire to know him. I know has voted on issues and then later when he comments in public it is obvious he did not realize what was in the legislation he voted for.

Anonymous said...

Well, that's very interesting, 12:09. In fact, when he comments in public, it is obvious that he is the ONLY one who realizes exactly what was in the legislation he voted for. I have heard that he is one of the few who actually READS the legislation. I have also watched as Ed Clere does NOT rubber stamp Republican Party agenda. Instead, he considers very carefully what people in his district want. He's a good guy, he's very smart, and he will always have my vote and the votes of all my family members.

Anonymous said...

I don't care about Gahan's stupid wife. I care that Gahan isn't doing his job right and why did he veto the parks? I don't get that. why veto the parks. Doesn't he care about them? They never get things done now as it is and I don't want to see the parks go to rot. Gahan has no idea what he's doing. That's what Shelley England says and that's what I agree with. Gahan's stupid.

Anonymous said...

Gahan is a one termer.

Anonymous said...

gahan is the biggest liar since pinochio and suzie is a perfect match because she is a liar too and a snob, funny thing is when gahan was dating her he used to make fun of her and talk about her like a dog.

watch those roving eyes gahan suzie wont tolerate any indescretions like a previous mayor's wife did, she will eat you for breakfast and spit you out like the crumb you are, of course the voters will finish you off in 4 years, wonder if you will be the first NA mayor divorced before the city divorces you

Anonymous said...

I call Gahan the Emperor of Lies. But I don't live in town so he doesn't matter to me.

Anonymous said...

All of you nice Christian folks sure are entertaining.

Anonymous said...

Ed clere has voted with Mitch Daniels 100% of the time . He always votes with the party.

Anonymous said...

Ed's the man!

Anonymous said...

Connie's a man too.

Anonymous said...

Instead of attacking Clere why don't we deal with the real issues: State of our City.

Anonymous said...

jeffy G you work for me and you will be history

Anonymous said...

He vetoed the parks because the county has not paid their share for eight years. How do you not get that? Guess you live in the county and think it is okay to short NA families.

Anonymous said...

Shrew- "a woman of violent speech and temper." Really? Seems like the shrews are here.

Anonymous said...

Mayor--thanks for the veto--it was the right thing to do---now split the parks up into city and county---we will have great parks and the county will be up a certain creek--and they know it.

Anonymous said...

Should have let the legislation pass to take care of the parks. Now we're all up s**t creek without a paddle. If the parks are important to us, then they need to be properly and fully funded. Now, if you dopey people think it's OK to get rid of the little green space we have here, then you'll keep doing what you're doing.

Anonymous said...

That's true 9:22. We created this problem for ourself.

Wish I was at the Oaks instead of working right now.

Anonymous said...

The county already signed an agreement to pay their share. They have failed to do do even though they have the money. No one wants to get rid of the parks. The county just needs to honor the agreement that is currently in place .

Anonymous said...

Yeah, 9:56, and leave the poor people of the City to keep on paying more for the parks. It's a pretty cushy set up for the county people, isn't it.

Anonymous said...

Want to see a pretty park ? Walk around community park lake. The same trash is lying there that was there 4 years ago. You can't tell me that the park employees are that busy that they can't pick up trash at one of our few city parks ! It's a joke. But i guess you can have a clean up the parks day and have old folks that are retired and high school kids giving up a weekend to come out and pick up trash for free playing off their emotions for making it a feel-good thing to have a clean park. What a joke.

Anonymous said...

News from downtown is the NAPD want 14 new police cars. I got a suggestion let's have physical agility test and let's see who can pass it and I am talking about each and everyone of them too.

O K You want to laugh about the NAPD but remember. When you need them for any reason just remember what you typed on here as your dialing 911 then see how hard your laughing then. No matter how much you like or dislike the NAPD or NAFD those guy's do a heck of a job and would put their life on the line for you if need be. So tread lightly.

Anonymous said...

Agreed. The NAPD and NAFD are there for all of us. That's what public servants do. Now, do they need all those new cruisers? I don't know. As for the parks, we need those too. If you see a piece of tra:sh 11:05, just pick it up. That's what good citizens do.

Anonymous said...

Easy to say 2:36 A lot of the trash is in the lake rocks sorry im not taking a chance of getting hurt walking on those rocks. and it would take weeks to pick it all up. 2:36 you sit behind a desk all day ? sounds like it. See a piece of trash pick it up. Wow. funny. Good citizens would'nt have put it there in the first place. And sorry. I'm not in the business of picking up other people's trash.
