GAHAN IS ELECTED - YEEAAA. NOW, WE WILL ALL WONDER WHAT'S NEXT. IF WE AREN'T MISTAKEN, WE'RE PRETTY SURE GAHAN SAID HE WOULD NOT APPOINT A DEPUTY MAYOR. WE'RE NOT QUITE SURE WHAT THE TRIBUNE WAS TALKING ABOUT!
WHAT ARE YOUR VISIONS FOR OUR ILLUSTRIOUS CITY? WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE CHANGED UP UNDER GAHAN?
WE HOPE HE RENEGOTIATES THE POLICE CONTRACT TO STOP THE TAKE HOME CARS FOR OUR FINE OFFICERS WHO DWELL OUTSIDE FLOYD COUNTY. AND, WE ARE ACTUALLY DREAMING THE CONTRACT WILL BE CHANGED SO MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, WE CAN GET A CHIEF FROM OUTSIDE THE DEPARTMENT. PROBABLY WISHFUL THINKING, BUT IT MAY HELP GET THE COSTS IN LINE.
ONLY THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX HERE AND NO OFFENSE TO OUR FINE LAW ENFORCEMENT.
WHAT IS NEXT?

As I read it, the Tribune wasn't saying much about the deputy mayor appointment. They only mentioned that he stated he wouldn't choose one.
I would like to see sidewalks and streets taken care of and less garbage piled up. I'd like to see strong code enforcement and less cronyism.
I do not want to see Malysz, Gibson, Rosenbarger, or any other close cronies of England's in office. I don't like seeing Warren Nash and Ron Toran on Gahan's transition team. I'm not convinced that there's any use for John Wilcox on there either.
Frankly, until I see less of the old gang on the boards and such, I'm going to think we've just re-elected the England administration, even though I've heard that England shows a certain amount of animosity toward Jeff.
A little?
seeing as how mayor england ran a republican against jeff, i'd say there's some animosity, yes.
If they hire from outside the department they take on another salary that wasn't budgeted for. Regina ran into that...how quickly we (you) forget
We need Code Enforcement in New Albany. We are paying salaries, and trucks and cell phones. The police need to be a strong part of CODE
ENFORCEMENT.
Gahan and Baylor had lunch today. My wife saw them at the coffee shop on Grantlne road.
Really? Well, that's pretty disgusting. Why would he listen to Baylor and all his whining? Why would Baylor even care to meet with Gahan? He's hoping for that money for New Albany First, I wonder?
Busted 4:53, Mr. Gahan is in Cinn. on business he told me himself in his voicemail.
She knows them both, and they were there. She said Baylor was talking about 2way streets, that's all she could hear.
I want to see a new public pool, ally's cleaned up, trees trimmed and I hope our new mayor listens to the people and not others.
I want to give a shout out to my favorite citizen advocate on her birthday and hope she enjoying her much needed and over due European vacation.
Yes, Happy Birthday to her!
Gahan having lunch with Baylor is true!!!! What I do know is several other people have contacted Gahan still waiting on phone call back. The start Gahan is having is dealing with the same old people. The people want change come on Gahan why do you think you won.
Transition team look out your the escape goat.
13 members Gahan could barely agree with 5 for 8 years serving on city council.
Oh know it sounds like who ever thinks they are close with Gahan and knows his schedule sadly mistaken.
Gonder on Baylors web site touting for a resolution to be passed of using local contractors. John where in the hell have you been for 4 years. This has been brought up in meetings for years get your head out of your ass and take care of responsibility that you have as far as the budget is concerned. You just put your rubber stamp on votes that you are lead by the nose.
GONDER AND BAIRD ONLY VOTED IN TO KEEP ENGLAND OFF THE COUNCIL. END RESULT: ENGLAND OUT - GAHAN IN.
A few issues... I thought the "transition" team was supposed to be bipartisan. Except for Kevin z, the token GOP..where is the bipartisanship? And BTW, a new Todd Bailey is in as police head for the duration. The goods he has on the new mayor would blow most people's minds...Stay tuned...
niemeier---all republican--
Umm...SK, 108k? Really?
What does she do to earn that salary?
What I want to see come Jan.1, 2012:
1. Shane & Carl, and Kay Garry fired
2. Audit the books, take inventory of trucks, cars, equipment, computers and etc
3. Go to a line car system
4. Renegotiate NAPD & NAFD contract
5. Renegotiate Echotech contract
6. Terminate Rosenbarger, Wilkerson family (free loaders), Mickey Thompson, Brinkworth, sewer billing department
7. copy of check Rog claims he paid for his own patio and his brick wall
Not a bad list for starters.
Amen, to that list. I'm wondering if England needs any help moving out of the third floor. The sooner the better.
Fluffinstuff is bragging at having over a thousand hits. Well, duh, dum-dum. I went to it a few times hoping for information about Kevin. We were looking everywhere, including NAC. But all you had was a link to the Tribune (as inept at reporting as ever until Chris Morris added the funeral information), and tales of your own relationship with Kevin.
I'll never tell you what we talked about the other night, Rog, but you'd sure be interested.
Way to be a petty ass, 6:57.
I'm sorry to see Kevin gone. Still can't believe it. He was a great, enthusiastic supporter of New Albany. THIS is the kind of leadership we need, not the grousing grumble butts we put up with every day around here. R.I.P. Kevin.
Roger is the petty one. I agree with 6:57. He didn't do anything but talk about himself as usual.
As for Kevin, I didn't know him very well but always heard really good things about him. It's sad when helpers of the little people get taken from us.
Yeah, it's pretty pompus of our unfavorite blogger to put labels on his friend who just died and to talk about hisself. Baylor just had to get the last dig in. He's just a pompus @$$.
When people are suddenly taken from us, it's natural to reflect on our relationships with them- especially when two friends take entirely different paths. Roger's blog seems to be where he does that reflection, and I stand by my earlier assumption that you, and clearly others, are petty asses.
Kevin was a fantastic man; spirited, kind, and cared immensely about our community. He put his actions where his beliefs were, and spent countless hours involved on boards to better the community we live in. People from all walks of life are saddened by his loss.
I agree with everything you said about Kevin, 9:44, but I don't get why you're calling anyone "petty asses." It's pretty much understood that name callers might as well assign the same label to themselves. It would be better all around if you refrained from such name-calling on this blog. Thank you.
10:48- understood. Will refrain.
Let me add, though: I'm appalled that anyone, regardless of how much they dislike another human being, would attempt to vilify someone else for expressing their feelings and thoughts for someone that's passed away. Whether you like Roger or not, give him his space and time to work through the clearly painful loss of a childhood friend before you start attacking him.
THAT is what I find petty, and upsetting.
This is a wierd conversation.
Roger puts things out there on his own and needs to grow up and be a big boy if he wants to say whatever he wants.
I don't vilify Roger. He is what he is.
I'll bet you've never been "appalled" when he attacks people who have lost elections when they clearly want to serve the public in this way.
I'll bet you laugh whnever Roger attacks Vicki Denhart, who has never, not once, done anything to Roger.
I'll bet you pat him on the back and egg him on when he says he's going to find out about people who work in town and how they make too much money and how he's going to sick the dogs on them.
I agree with all the people who posted before (except for you). Roger labeled and all that. He can't resist putting people in lables and he can't resist having the last word.
I will give him credit for one thing only. He didn't "yawn."
I agree with 11:25. This is a weird conversation. Why don't you all leave it at this: you disagree. Please stop the conversation. I think each of you has said what you have to say and I think the rest of us don't want to read this kind of bickering when one of our area's most beloved friends has just died. Nobody cares what Roger thinks, and nobody cares what the rest of you think. Not today. Please stop.
Sounds fair enough, 11;42. I agree with you. And, really, I'm sorry for Roger and for all of us. We have all lost a good friend and helper. So, Roger, I apologize for not stepping in to say what 11:42 said. And, I'm sorry your childhood friend, who you enjoyed even though opposite in some ways, is gone. Also, I see you put up more information. Thank you for that too.
11:42, and 11:25- I agree with you. Really. I just think everyone has the right to grieve as they see fit, and others shouldn't attack how they choose to do so. Not there, not here, not anywhere.
I don't think a soul disagrees that we've lost an amazing man. There are many, many hurting hearts today- yours, mine, and thousands of others.
Let the attacks rest- yes, even those on your nemesis- for the next three days, ok? Let's all find a way to heal.
I think people need to let Kevin rest in peace. Let his family have this time to mend and try to get through this time. Let's all stand together at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, let's stop what everyone is doing and have a moment of silence for our friend Kevin as his family will come together to lay Kevin to rest. Please spread the word where ever you are nudge your neighbor next to you to join with us.
Let the spreading of this be a dominal effect !!!!!
2:00 PM WEDNESDAY
I am in great idea
I have a great idea, let's change the blog title to What did Roger do today!
I'm just sorry it wasn't Benedetti driving the car that killed Hammersmith. Oh. that's right, she wasn't drunk either. Wonder which bar he left and which one he got drunk at.
I'm in. 2:00 Wednesday. For Kevin.
Whom ever made the comment on Benedetti needs to be taken out to the wood shed. How dare anyone make a comment to this extreme on any individual. Looks like jealousy still portraying certain individuals. And individuals with there own agenda's. May god have his patience with you . Oh but wait a minute I maybe speaking to someone who doesn't believe in him or the judicial system.
Do you think the person driving that vehicle choose the fate that happened that night. Do you think Kevin a great person he was never got behind a wheel!!!!
Let him rest in peace! The person he was never threw those daggers.
i hope Gahan dissolves DNA.
A little shocked this morning at the conversation from yesterday.
Unlike you, I pray for Roger. He doesn't know this, but I pray for him every single day.
Roger is sometimes (a lot of times) hard to like. But I love him. He has been a friend and he's been an enemy. We don't speak these days, but not a day goes by that I don't pray for him--that the Lord be with him. Believe it or not, my husband and I miss him very much. Roger has as much goodness about him as any one of us does.
I don't think that he said anything so very selfish. It was more introspective than anything. I have no problem with that. It was honest, and I appreciate that. I checked out his blog this morning. You'll see that he's included more information about his childhood friend. As I said, we don't chat anymore, but I imagine he's having difficulty grappling with the loss of his old friend, just like so many of us who weren't childhood friends of Kevin's.
I also see no reason to bring Diane Benedetti into the discussion. She's got nothing, I repeat, nothing to do with this incident. Why don't you try praying for Diane, for Roger, for Kevin's family, and for the man in jail right now because of Kevin's death?
Prayer can reach all of us. Try that, instead of getting on here pounding other people.
The only reason I'm on here is because a friend of mine mentioned this blog and all the discussion. She laughed.
Frankly, it's not funny.
If you want to talk constructively about issues, then fine. Leave the gossip and conjecture at God's feet and let it go.
You just don't get it 9:56 and 10:05. What 9:05 is saying is:
Will this guy try to beat a DWI. It could have been Benedetti on the night she got arrested. The bottom line here: "Don't Drive and Drink." There are laws on the books if you allow some one to leave your bar or resturant and they are drunk you are liable.
Since England has pushed for bar after bar in downtown I think that 9:05 made a damn good point.
Question to all: How many times have you seen England drunk downtown?
I've seen him several times and will be glad when he's out of office.

I think the guy who hit Kevin was under a controlled substance. Not drinking. Not trying to split hairs, but just wanted you to know the current information.
It still has nothing to do with Benedetti. I'm not her biggest fan, but I don't believe in beating a dead horse. At the very least, I would like to believe that she won't repeat the behavior, so I'm giving Diane the benefit of the doubt.
England? Drunk? Yes. It was a travesty that they interviewed England about Kevin. England needs to go. The sooner the better.
@ 6:16 Very nice points. You're right, of course. I'm guilty of jumping on the Roger-hating bandwagon. It makes me grouchy, and it's because I don't have an attitude like yours. I will pray. Please pray for me too, if you would.
You got that right 6:57. I'm also on board at 2:00.
Your point on a woman being found not guilty by the justice system and your still rail roading her. It is not illegal to have a drink. Now for you to consume is a different story and drive. I do realize some people do not choose to drink at all and I respect that. But most people writing on here and tearing others up have all been behind the wheel so stop acting as tho you haven't . I thought the world of Kevin do you think the night of events Kevin did not relax and have a beer with his party.
Kevin probably had a drink, but Kevin was always very responsible. I think that our justice system doesn't always "find guilty" people who actually commit crimes, and I think we all agree that the justice system many times lets people off the hook who should not be. On the other hand, I agree with 6:16. Diane Benedetti has been through the court system. I think she was drunk and driving. Most of us think she was drunk and driving. But the court has let her go. She's probably relieved it's over with and she probably will be VERY careful from now on. At least I hope so. People will be watching and they won't keep putting up with any more drunk driving incidents from her. But, let's stop punishing her publicly about it. Think what you will, but I agree with 6:16. She has nothing to do with this horrible car crash this weekend. Why bring up Diane Benedetti every single time drunk driving comes up? Let it rest, people.
You are very small minded to cast your judgement that she was guilty. Kevin was very responsible but how dare you say she is not. I know Kevin is looking down right now and is saying stop talking about Diane that way. You must lead a very sad life to cast stones on people when you were not even there. But I guess you have always been opinionated in your life. Watch how you cast your stones!!!!!
REMEMBER 2:00 pm A MOMENT OF SILENCE FOR KEVIN WHILE HIS FAMILY LAYS HIM TO REST ON WEDNESDAY
No the justice system does a lot of plea bargains isn't that right Mr. Henderson. Reductions to PI or reckless driving.
Now that Henderson is taken off the Camm trial which he messed up for it to go back to trial again. It looks like Mr. Henderson is not having a very good year.
Wait for the taxpayers to learn the expense of what Henderson will cost the county in this trial having to bring in a special prosecutor.
Diane, I mean, 9:26, you're awfully hot on 8:57's comment. Why not be grateful for a pretty nice comment? Dang.
My name is not Diane but I can tell you one thing it does begin with a D. So now what do you have to say.
Why are we talking about Benedetti again? Boring.
Abolish DNA. DNA hasn't followed their Charter and this is why New Albany First is trying to form.
I thought NA First already formed. What on earth did DNA to to not follow their Charter?
Ask the businesses downtown.
Well, since, I'm a businessman downtown, you claim I should know, but I don't. I'm curious as to what exactly DNA has done to not follow its charter. You might as well pour forth, since you made the statement.
I thought so. They've done nothing against their own charter. Think I'll sign up. NA First seems like nothing but a group of angry butts.
I have heard nothing but complaints about DNA, including comments on another blog site in town. I know of only one butt in the New Albany First group - but that has nothing to do with supporting business already in existence downtown.
Some businesses are tired of the same old same old staff/citizens who sit on these boards, including DNA. Maybe especially DNA.
All they want is money from old, existing business but nothing is done for them. Wait, we may get a map showing them (if they paid).
Yep that's what I think.
I know all sorts of butts downtown. Starting with the blogger you probably read your complaints on. I know some complainers downtown and I agree with 10:33. Angry butts. LOL Roger wrote today about this guy who was his childhood friend. That's nice, but it would say a lot more about Roger if he wrote nice stuff about people like Steve Price, Larry Kochert, Ed Clere, Kerry Stemler, and so on. Don't see that ever happening, but I might change my mind about agreeing with 10:33 if he ever did. It's easy to write nice things about a childhood friend. Not so easy to get along with people you hate.
Yep that's what I think.
ROFLMAO. I know one book selling super butt. ROFLMAO.
WHAT DID ROGER DO TODAY? When is the blog title going to change.
Roger obviously loved his friend and is grieving. What kind of person insults that? Please let Roger, and others grieve the loss of a much-beloved person.
Tired of DNA board well roger used to serve on that plus other numerous boards Doug put him on. What did he do with that well he did not get his way and quit all of them.
Why is Gahan thinking about putting people from Clark county and not who is in Floyd county to work?
Hell, I would take a comptroller from the moon if I had to compared to what we have had here
Wow, I just found this crap, you guys need to get a life. Let's not beat up on Diane everyone knows she was guilty that is obvious. She is a drunk just like Doug. The real problem is the idiots in our jury pool. If your number gets picked try not to be one(idiot). Word on the street Kevin was twice the legal limit (RIP my friend). Give Jeff a chance. It's not even January yet. Start your whining come June if your not happy. I know you will because people like you all are never happy. Well comment away I'm out of here and won't be back. I have more important things to do like live and enjoy my life. Wow, this is crap.
