THE ISSUE IS THE LAST SEWER PLAN FAILED. OVER 40 MILLION DOLLARS SPENT AND THE PLAN DIDN'T WORK.
PLEASE REMEMBER THE HARD WORK PERFORMED BY THE TWO ENGINEERS WHO RESIGNED FROM THE SEWER BOARD BECAUSE OF THE VOTE DONE BEHIND CLOSED DOORS PICKING THIS PLAN.
THAT'S ALL.

That's plenty. There are too many votes taken behind closed doors. Too much back slapping of the good old boys.
Sickening.
Amen.
Over on another local blog, they've had a "spirited" discussion about baseball fields and Binford Park. Very interesting.
What's wrong with using Binford Park?
Yet meanwhile on another thread on this blog, a faithful reader posts: "Information should not be given out now, just to see if the 'city' actually reports everything to EPA and IDEM."
On one hand secrecy, closed door meetings are lambasted. Yet, here we have a prime example of championing for information to not be released, for the public to be kept in the dark, because is suits the agenda of the second biggest good old boy network in town.
Sociologically speaking I am horribly attracted to this disappointing display of the duality of expectations.

Is the blog acting up? I posted a question about Binford Park and it disappeared.
Well, let's see if it stays:
Why on earth wouldn't they use Binford Park for a baseball field instead of draining the one bit of water we have at Community Park? Why ruin Community Park?
And, why would it cost 10 million, 1 million per field (as stated on another blog)? I don't know.
Why indeed.
To It's a Jungian Thing:
When the federal government tells people the citizens of New Albany are always responsible for the decisions of their politicos because we elect them, it's a tough pill to swallow. This statement pertains to our sewer infrastructure and any progress all of us want to have.
Under Overton, we had two really great people (Bill Utz and Bob Ledford) on the sewer board working hand in hand with the public to finally put sewer issues to bed so none of us would have to hear of it, deal with it, much less talk about it again.
A Plan was publically chosen out of 3 options. The next thing which happened was the closed door meeting and former Mayor Chas Hunter changed his vote about the Plan, which had already chosen publically, behind closed doors with the other sewer board members in attendance (no public).
After the meeting, he was asked why he did that thing. His answer was because he needed the job.
That's when Utz and Ledford resigned. The Sewer Board and citizens were told there was nothing the Federal government could do for the people about a multi million(s) dollar plan being selected (illegally) until it failed. The only thing left to do was to follow the guidelines of the Consent Decree where we (and this is why EMC was hired) make our monthly reports to IDEM and the EPA about the status of each rainfall.
Another commentor gave the information as to the overflows we had we simply 2 inches of rain two or three times recently retrieved from the IDEM website. Now, we have had our 100 year storm which was the criteria the Plan had to meet.
Now, because the Sewer Board and citizens did everything they could we will, and want to see, what the EPA and IDEM will do. We want to see the if the City (EMC) reports all the information in, due May 15th.
Until the Plan failed, until the Plan failed, until the Plan failed..., there was NOTHING anyone could do about over 40 (probably closer to 60) million dollars being spent on work that would not enable us to move forward and get out from under the Consent Decree. We heard that statement until/unless the Plan failed so many times, it got to be unbearable.
So, when you say you like the double standard on this blog, we will just have to disagree. Too much money to EMC for their work, too much money to Engineers for their work, too much money for a Plan that didn't work.
We would really like for the Engineers to be held responsible for whatever and however reasons they decided this particular Plan had to be the one selected (even though OUR local Engineers and public knew it wouldn't work).
The time span goes back to 2001. It's something you don't want to happen but knew was going to happen and I guess the roosters have finally come home to roost.
I can't tell you the rhyme or reason, but there is a Federal file in the courthouse containing information/documentation about everything stated above.
And, now the Plan failed. So, if you can, please bear with us while this plays out. Everyone will know more when the final EMC report comes out on May 15th.
The only difference is, THIS TIME (2001), this time it was documented every which way but loose by our former Engineers and public about why this plan did not address the issues we had/have. You want an apology? You are owed one, but not from these people. Ask the government. They owe the apology to all of us.
In the meantime, we have all waited over ten years. Can you wait until May 15th to get the final stats?
The Engineers referred to would be Clark-Deitz.
Evidently comments are disappearing on this blog. The response to Jungian thing was on here and now gone. I'll key it in again later.
Gosh, I found dozens upon dozens of comments which went to the "spam" file. There was a lot of spam but there were a lot of good comments (and bad) that went to spam. The blog administrator has gone through all 268 comments and I have deleted the spam and published all others. Sorry for the blogger mishap.

THANK YOU! Now that was nice, and informative.

You are welcome.
Thank you, Kitchen Table. Most of us realize there is much behind the story that most people either don't know or have forgotten. Thanks for the clear explanation.
Joe, you might learn patience and how not to make fun of people. There is always much to learn.
Sometimes you have to break some glass to enter into a sactorum.
Joe Citizen
Do you mean sanctorum?
