NEW ALBANY NEEDS THE JOBS AND MONEY

At breakfast yesterday, we were talking about all of the no bid contracts let out by New Albany and we decided to ask WHY?

Other blogs are talking about keeping buying at the local level, i.e., school books, beer, restaurants, etc. Buying local is a good thing and all but why not keep the jobs local too so people have the money to buy.

The issue of no bid contracts for changing the traffic lights came first and then the paving. Mention was made a company from the Michigan Indiana border (Michiana) got the traffic lights contract (and might we add some of them we actually get out of the car and push the walk button to trigger the light so we can go). The paving contracts got the most flak because of the lack of quality in the asphalt and the delay on getting projects finished, especially in the Daisy Lane/Mt. Tabor Road areas.

A business owner was speaking about the need, especially in this day and age, of no bid contracts and what was or could be in it for our local government. Don't they realize people are hungry to work and how the economy is in the tank? Why the shoddy work and low grade asphalt being laid? The conversation steered to the sidewalk curbs being redone down Market street and evidently we have an outside business on a no bid contract performing this job, too.

We were talking about the high dollar amounts for these contracts and questioning why? We all felt the money and outside people were ridiculous. There are plenty of local businesses ready and able to step in and get the work at probably half the cost. Mention was made of a tailor in Louisville making the Mayor's suit and how one guy knew you simply had to go over and put money down on the account in order to get a bid. (I don't know if that's true but why would someone bring that up at breakfast if it wasn't?)

We were also talking about the no bid sanitation contract and how England has already renewed the contract without bids even though it didn't expire until 2013. And then, they wanted to know why.

So, we are asking New Albany's illegal Assistant Deputy Mayor and Mayor to stop the no bid contracts and bring the jobs back locally. Too many people need the work and as one business owner said, "The boys are hungry".

Let's put the horse before the cart about buying locally and stop the no bid contracts/work first so we can bring/keep the money in our community so we can shop locally. Stopping this mess would help our economy and local business tremendously. Don't you think so?

The good old gang in here is so fast to slap down jack messer for what he has done wrong, but it seems curious that this and the other blog of the little people have yet to publish that he has completed the sensativity training. Could it simply be that its not worthy to report when a cop does something right?

I was told Basin 35 was completed for $650,000 instead of the $1.3 million bid.

Alot of people are hungry but where are the jobs and everything keeps going up.

Anonymous 8:57 I just read FOS and as of June 7 they listed Messer would be replaced. What's up with that?

Only in the City of New Albany would government give out no-bid contracts to Provoni a business run by a supposedly convicted felon.
This is just England trying to rip off the taxpayers in his last term in office.

No-bid contracts to campaign contributors are not new, England did it the last eight years he was in office.

Does anyone question Gorman's new paving contract? You ought to dig into that one.

Are you saying England has his own special interest? I'm shocked, SHOCKED!

whooooheeeee!!!

LMFAO

Has it been made public Messer completed the sensitivity training? I guess they haven't told anyone that yet.

it has been made public and he completed it July 9th. Of course, if certain people were the information clearinghouse they claim to be, this blog and another "we hate everyone and everything to do with our local government" blog would know that. But of course to post that it would have to go counter to the claims made that he refuses to go.

Fraud, lies, deceit, no bid contracts - that's the England way of doing business.

England's administration has taken local government graft and corruption to an astonomically new level.

If Stan Faith has anything to do with it, Messer's job is history.
The last I heard 1+1 - 2.

no bid contracts = no big deal
If the contracts run counter to any state or federal procurement laws, or are contraindicated in local ordinances or procurement procedures, then file and injunction and stop the contracts dead in their tracks until such a time that the legitimacy of the "no bid contracts" can be established.
You have that right as a citizen to do that, but of course you will not because your name will have to be on the lawsuit for the injunction. And God knows there are not many other than denhart who are willing to put her name out there in public. I think I may have had a change of heart about her, and I now feel sorry for her, as it would appear there are many of you using her willingness to be a community advocate to do the biddings that you are afraid to face the consequences of.

One question, in what universe of physics does 1+1 [=] -2?

Anonymous said...

and why do so may zipper pull tabs have YkK on them?

Anonymous said...

Yeah, they always want us to file a lawsuit. File a lawsuit to get anything that's already on the books to become legal. Will the city pay for it like redistricting? And where did that get us?

Hell even MSD in Lousville hired Pavoni. They feel he learned his lesson and everyone should forget his background.

Anonymous said...

Are you saying there are consequences to telling the truth. Nah not in new albany.

Why don't you remove the references to Yvonne? There have been others so whats up with you not deleting?

After the emc adventure the city council passed an ordinance that contracts must be bid. Since sanitation is the second biggest contract, the city council should file suit. The problem is the mayor has enough votes (gonder, caesar, zurschmeide, messer and benedetti) to stop them from filing suit.

its not up to the mayor, its up to the people who elect the council members. They are vulnerable right now to that. Its a matter of PROPERLY educating the voting public on these issues. Not the typical hate campaigns.

(hopefully this wont be deleted)

if you wont tell the truth out of fear of consequences, then you are just cowardly

Council passed an ordinance not too long ago mandating all outsourced work be bid on. Why can't they enforce it?

Diesel is already over $4 bucks a gallon and the contract for garbage specifically states an increase if that happens. Why a new contract when the other hasn't expired?

It's called kick-backs. Why would anyone the(mayor)be doing this new contract, when he won't be back in office.

I say kick backs, that's all it is.

My councilman (Price) was interviewed today on WHAS11 and later today was interviewed by WLKY. Check out what my councilman says: where's the money.

Greetings! Quick question that's entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My blog looks weird when viewing from my iphone 4. I'm trying to find a
theme or plugin that might be able to fix this issue.
If you have any recommendations, please share.
Many thanks!

Feel free to visit my blog Asphalt Driveways MN
