HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL.
WE HAVE A LOT TO LOOK FORWARD TO AND MAYBE CRINGE A LITTLE ABOUT; BUT WE'LL SEE.
CITY COUNCIL ELECTIONS WILL BE A BEAR, TO SAY THE LEAST.
BUDGET WOES AND THE LACK OF UNWILLINGNESS FOR ENGLAND TO TELL THE POLICE SOMETHING HAS GOT TO GIVE IN THEIR UNION CONTRACTS IS GOING TO BE ANOTHER PAIN IN OUR BEHINDS.
WE DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY EVERYONE HAS TO GIVE AND GIVE AND PAY AND PAY AND OUR MAYOR DOESN'T UNDERSTAND AND WON'T PUT HIS FOOT DOWN. HEY, AT LEAST PARK THE POLICE CARS AND CUT YOUR DEPUTY ASSISTANT MAYOR OUT. MAYBE YOU THINK YOU NEED HIM MAYOR, BUT I SWEAR HE IS MORE OF A LIABILITY TO YOU THAN YOU WILL EVER KNOW.
EVEN PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT YOU DON'T LIKE HIM, NOR HIS POSITION, NOR HIS CREATIVE IDEAS.
IT IS WHAT IT IS AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE IMMEDIATELY. WE HAVE A FEELING YOU WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENED IN THIS LAST ELECTION HAPPEN LOCALLY.
FEEL FREE TO COMMENT BUT LET'S KEEP IT DECENT AND NON COMBATIVE, PLEEAASSEE. THANKS.
Agreed. Even if I LIKED the Deputy Mayor, his job is redundant and unnecessary. The fact that New Albany taxpayers are asked to shoulder the burden of paying a deputy mayor is a clear message from the Mayor that 1) he can do what he wants, and 2) he has little regard for what is necessary, and 3) he is willing to fly in the face of the taxpayer as regards to fiscal responsibility.
ReplyDeleteThe Governor of New York just cut his salary in half because of ALL of the states' fiscal problems. Now, there's an idea.
ReplyDeleteWhy hasn't this happen before now.
ReplyDeleteEngland was told our city would be cut 1.3 million in 2011. We are over budget by millions.
It's an election year who they going to blame?
GWB?
Maybe it's tome to wipe out the entire England administration and vote out every council member.
Maybe it's time for tough love or an intervention.
Anyone notice their sewer and stormwater bill just went up again? Not bad when you have a mayor who borrows 5 million from sewers and is sitting on about $7 million and our sewer rate still went up.
Go figure.
The $90,000 question who will run for mayor?
ReplyDeletePaul Ethridge says he has a $600,000 war chest. $6,000, maybe.
ReplyDeleteI plan to support Irvin Stumler. As the new bumper sticker says: Anyone but Doug and Paul Ethridge.
ReplyDeleteI keep waiting for Baylor to throw his hat in the ring. How about you all.
ReplyDeleteNow that he sole handed stopped the tolls. (Yell right!)
Baylor won't throw his hat in the ring. He's just big talk about everything and that is it!
ReplyDeleteIf people would stop giving him the time of day he might just go away.
ReplyDeleteDon't you hate it went organized crime won't support our own mayor's election.
ReplyDeleteI read in today's "Tribune" that five of our city council members plan to run for re-election. I'm glad they spoke up.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they all spoke up too. I hope they all have challenges and that we have an interesting election.
ReplyDeleteI hope that we have serious candidates. I've heard so many people are running for mayor that we'll have listfull for primary. Don't know about any republicans.
Anyone but Coffey. We need some fresh blood on the council.
ReplyDeleteI here their going to change democrats into republicans and run them as their own candidates. Now THAT'S scary!
ReplyDeleteIt probably wouldn't be hard to get anyone to switch parties these days LOL
ReplyDeleteEngland will have a viable challenger in a couple of weeks. He knows it and is not looking forward to it. It is not hard to figure out who it is.
ReplyDeleteYoy can't sit in the front pew every four years and claim your a catholic either for votes at St. Mary's.
ReplyDeleteHere I thought New Albany only had a localized (Loughner) nut job, until you saw what happen in Arizona.
ReplyDeleteI'm less worried about what our local nut-job might do than about what kind of angry act he might lead others to do. Love 'em or hate 'em, we've got hotheads here!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see Messer out of the running. Good riddens, I say.
