AL JAZEERA????

OUR FAMILY NEVER, EVER, THOUGHT WE WOULD LISTEN TO AL JAZEERA BRINGING OUR CURRENT NEWS.  NEVER IN A LIFETIME.  WELL, **** HAPPENS (ONE OF OUR FAVORITE BUMPER  STICKERS).

REALLY, THE ONLY NEWS YOU MAY HAVE RECEIVED CAME OUT OF AL JAZEERA.  A NEWS CHANNEL WE NEVER THOUGHT YOU AND MINE WOULD HAVE RECEIVED OUR BREAKING, LATEST NEWS.  BUT, IT HAPPENED.  MY SON TUNED IN AL JAZEERA ON THE COMPUTER AND WE ALL LISTENED TO THE LATEST AND GREATEST, ABOUT EGYPT.  A REVOLUTION BEFORE OUR VERY EYES ABOUT UNEMPLOYMENT AND A LACK OF FOOD.  EVEN THOUGH WE HAD STUDIED THIS SUBJECT AND HEARD THE YOUTH WOULD BRING ABOUT THE REVOLUTIONS BECAUSE OF A LACK OF JOBS -- TRULY SOBERING NEWS.  A REAL LIFE REVOLUTION AND "PEOPLE POWER" TO THE MAX.    AL JAZEERA WAS THE ONLY TV ON THE GROUND, BRINGING YOU, AND OURS, THE LATEST, GREATEST AND CURRENT NEWS.

WAS THERE A LESSON IN IT TO ALL OF US?  MAYBE.  WE (OUR GENERATION) HAVE NEVER SEEN A REVOLUTION UP FRONT AND PERSONAL.   WE HAVE READ WHERE THE YOUTH OF OTHER COUNTRIES, AND OURS, WILL BRING THIS "UNEMPLOYMENT, LACK OF  (FOOD)  WHATEVER TO THE FRONT".  BUT, BY GOSH, IT HAPPENED BEFORE OUR EYES.  NO JOBS, LACK OF FOOD, ETC.

BACK TO NEW ALBANY, INDIANA.  WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES BREAK CONCERNING THE PARKS DEPARTMENT, THE CANDIDATE WHO WILL RUN FOR MAYOR, WHICH CANDIDATE WILL RUN FOR COUNCIL, PARKING TICKETS (WHICH CAN NOT EQUAL SEWER BILL PAST DUES (WHERE BENEDETTI SWEARS IS NOT PUBLIC INFORMATION), AND PARKING TICKETS.  IT IS WHAT IT IS.  AND, WHAT ELSE IS NEW IN NEW ALBANY -- LACK OF ENFORCEMENT.  WHAT WITH RENTALS, SEWERS, PARKING, AND CODE ENFORCEMENT (BLAH, BLAH, BLAH).  NOTHING NEW EXCEPT A NEW DAY (UNFORTUNATELY FOR TAXPAYERS).  OH, AND DON'T LET US FORGET THE S. ELLEN AND JONES NEIGHBORHOOD AND HOW MUCH THIS REMINDS US OF THE OTHER FIASCO WITH SAME PEOPLE IN CHARGE.  ISN'T THAT A MIND BENDER?

MY ELDEST SON TAUGHT ME A LOT THIS PAST WEEK, TURNING THE COMPUTER ON AND LISTENING TO AL JAZEERA.  ANY OF YOU AS TO WHAT THE U.S.A. MAY BE FACING (OR NEW ALBANY -- JOKE, JOKE)?  CURIOUS TO SAY, AT THE LEAST!

BRING IT ON, BUT LET US KEEP IT CIVIL.  AMEN.

  1. What about the illegal collection of $20.00 ticket for Handicap parking the city has collected and continues to collect for the last eleven years. Does Gibson plan to pay all that money back?

  2. In your dreams...in your dreams.

  3. Tune in to Al Jazeera and you'll find out! Just kidding...

    Great post, Kitchen Table!

We may be in for a revolution here in New Albany. We certainly can't go on like it is now!

  4. Agreed; I've been watching, too.

The Egyptian government has banned AlJazeera's Arabic language service from broadcasting, because it goes out to the rest of the Arab world. The English-language service is not being suppressed, enabling us to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Yes, Roger, you and I agree that it's something to watch. It's interesting that they did that, though not surprising.

  6. I notice how all those so called progressive never have much to say when mismanagement is disclosed. Tribune has reported about unpaid parking tickets not being enforced and unpaid sewer bills yet no word out of them self-proclaimed progressives. Not even show me the PROOF! Well you got the PROOF now and it's straight from your good ole buddy Suddeath. I think it is clear to say that certain people have been right on track with what they have been writing and telling us for a long time now. They take the time to do their homework. Glad to see the Tribune is finally learning how to obtain this type of information and actually reporting it.

  7. Internet blocked. Mobile phones blocked (though they are back up). You have to save a satellite source in order to be on the internet.

Israel has pulled Al Jazeeras license and kicked them out also.

Scary, and at the same time, fascinating. This makes you wonder about governments who have been meeting before this happened trying to regulate the internet, including ours. According to tech writings, our (:)) internet will not be the same within a year.

Many people around the world upset the United States was able to go after WIKILEAK sites without a warrant. (in another country)

  8. correction: you have to have a sattelite source.

  9. Good information on Freedom of Speech and the listing of people who do not pay their sewer bills. Who is who in New Albany?

  11. I don't know about peaceful decoy Muslims. I personally do know peaceful Muslims.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The Tribune did a great job with that article. Freedom of Speech did a great thing when they posted it.

What're they doing to attack Clere now? I'm not in the loop.

    ReplyDelete
  13. They are still hashing it out over the Parks Department.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Freedom of Speech alludes to something about Clere on today's post.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Gibson claims what Clere is doing is unconstitutional.

Wasn't it Gibson who cost us thousands of dollars on the DVD Store?

Did anyone see 41 today? They're looking for Shane and wanting to know how come he's not going after parking tickets. His secretary told 41 he was not available to comment. And they ended up at Atty. Bearsley's office and they would not let 41 in.

    Anyone got Shane's cell number?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Shane must have been counting all that bond commission he's making and couldn't be found.

Two for Doug and one for me in piles.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I don't understand why Gibson don't leave Clere alone. He's a great guy in my book.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ya got that right. Shane can't be keeping that $600,000 or so he's getting this year (if all goes according to the plan as published). That kind of money is INSANE!

    ReplyDelete
  19. What was it Obama said to John McCain? I won and you didn't! That's what Ed should tell Gibson.

    ReplyDelete
  20. No one in New Albany ought to be making $600,000. You sure that's right? That's hard to believe. I thought he only made $150,000, or something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Clere's got too much class to say that to Gibson. I heard that Gibson really did go to congratulate Ed on his win, but that he does nothing but complain about him around town and online. Wonder if Clere knows the kind of crap Gibson says.

Now, what about these parking tickets. Is it going to be on the news tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  22. He has to much class for that anonymous 2:29.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ed Clere is like the most urbane kind of politician I've ever seen around here. Really.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Gibson said crap about Clere on the campaign trail. Made up crap. Came to my house and said it and I challenged him on it. You could tell he wanted the ground to open up and swallow him up so he could get away.

I'm sure I can't imagine what he'd do for Dougy.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Looks like New Albany has it's very own Wikileak. Great job Erik Freedom of Speech is humming with all kind of information.

    ReplyDelete
  26. ERIK FOR MAYOR. HE'S MY KIND OF A GUY. I EVEN BET YOU HE HAS SEVERAL CHICS WORKING FOR HIM TOO.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Dave Matthews had a beer with Erik at Stumlers a few weeks ago. My sister is a waitress there.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Someone told me he had a conversation with Ted Heavrin and England has buyers remorse on backing Stemler.

    ReplyDelete
  29. That guys too old. If he's a millionaire how come he needs Doug?

    ReplyDelete
  30. He wants to spread the wealth around...dummy. From his pocket to England's pocket.

    Get it now.

    ReplyDelete
  31. This whole thing (Stumler) has a bad smell to it. The fact of the matter is that many of our cummunity's proven, long-time leaders are pushing this issue. In my opinion. The final decision rest with the voters. Who even wants Gibson back for City Attorney.

    Not me, how about you?

    ReplyDelete
  32. This and Freedom Of Speech are more informative than that silly "NAC" rhetoric. Even so, I find the claims and counter claims flaccid.

    ReplyDelete
  33. In regards to the postings on FOS and here. So, the question I have is what exactly are we getting for our money with Shane Gibson?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Free parking tickets and sewer and trash service

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anone read Voice of the people today? Marcey denies, if you think I;m under England's 'Rock', you REALLY don't know me.
Yes, we know you that's why you England and Gibson are all unelectable.

    Who you kidding Marcey.

    ReplyDelete
  36. To me since Shane didn't win State Rep they now are really going to push for a City Court. I maintain we don't need a city court but that's my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Shane wouldn't do his job even if we did have a city court. He doesn't do his job at all now. Look at the mess we're in. Did you see the news? Shane's on-the-job laziness is the most noticeable thing about him. It's ridiculous and it's an expense we could do without. Gibson is an embarrassment to NA, though he's not the first. I've talked with lawyers who say they simply give a knowing smile and then talk to Gibson like they would any child.

    ReplyDelete
  38. No one in New Albany ought to be making $600,000. You sure that's right?

it's not true. it's also not true that shane makes a $150,000 salary. non-employees do not get salaries. shane is not an employee. shane is an independent contractor. shane's law firm gets $150,000 a year to represent the city. but shane doesn't keep half that. shane must pay his own expenses and self-employment taxes with that. i bet his take home is way under $100,000. that's no more than most attorneys in area make.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't think they called it a "salary." Gibson gets every bit of $150,000 plus all the extra money from the bonds. The $600,000 may be high, but he's getting all kinds of money.

And that bit about his being an "independent contractor" is a pleasant way to keep from having to list him as the highest paid city employee.

Oh, and I think Shane gets health insurance through the city, doesn't he? If that's true, then the whole sham of his being an "independent contractor" falls under a sort of vague, suspicious category.

As for his paying his own taxes...I'm so GLAD to hear he does that! What a good guy! Congratulations!

I can't say he makes $600,000, but I can't say he's not making WAY more than he's worth, especially considering his wimpy quote about going after people downtown.

You're splitting hairs with the non-employee/independent contractor argument. And that's the point.

    ReplyDelete
  40. face it. you have no idea what shane's contract says, do you? you have no idea what expenses he has to pay out of his own pocket. a lot of those expenses the city would have to pay if he were an employee and not an independent contractor. splitting hairs, no. correctly someone who is wrong on the facts, yes.

get a copy of his contract. he doesnt get paid extra for bonds. i know you won't do it. slander is easier than research.

    ReplyDelete
  41. @8:42 Not one word of slander have I written, and, yes, already well acquainted with Gibson's contract.

    ReplyDelete
  42. THE Attorney ALWAYS takes a bond percentage because of malpractice issues. Next?

    ReplyDelete
  43. 8:42 you are wrong several of us have his contract and Gibson let it slip at a recent council meeting that he also gets city healthcare. Just ask any council member. I heard it I was sitting right there.

So put that in your pipe and smoke it along with what ever else your smoking.

    ReplyDelete
  44. So you don't believe Shane made at least $600,000?

Let's do the math, shall we?

    $150,000 salary
    Commission off the bonds
Contractual fees off of DVD Store, fees off of Georgetown deal where Shane, Carl and Doug England cut a deal and screw us ratepayers out of the $450,000 owed and they collected $25,000. He worked out the deal with the three attorneys over the monies owed to them.

Shall I continue to list others?

    Do the math folks!

    Now prove me wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anyone but Carl & Randy SmithFebruary 1, 2011 at 9:57 AM

I just heard Stemler is going to back out of his run for mayor and Carl M. will run in his place. Seems like England made another bad decision. He's only running to save his and Gibson's big paying job too.
Randy Smith is also running against Diane B.
I have a question for the Tribune will they do a spread on others who run as well?

    ReplyDelete
  46. That doesn't sound right. Does Smith live in Benedetti's area? And I don't see CM running for mayor.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yep missed that Stumler

    ReplyDelete
  48. The publisher of the Tribune says Smith is running.

    ReplyDelete
  49. So, when can we expect Stumler to punt? I missed the coronation, but wouldn't mind being there for the rethink.

    ReplyDelete
  50. It sure is shaping up to be an interesting election season!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I heard Doug is running

    ReplyDelete
  52. So Kojak is running, huh? I heard his business is going under and his old lady wouldn't let him run for Clerk.

He's the last person we need on our city council.

    ReplyDelete
  53. 2011 "a full spread" = announcement on Twitter

    ReplyDelete
  54. Of course at this Kitchen table we only talk about the real issues with no name calling...Right

by the way When is Smokey the Bear filing to run against Dan

    ReplyDelete
  55. Contractual fees off of DVD Store, fees off of Georgetown deal

you have a very active imagination. what makes you think shane made a penny off g-town deal or DVD suit. lawyers cannot bill hourly or take 1/3 cut when they're already paid a retainer for the same work.

prove he is paid anything more than $150,000 retainer.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Personally, I liked Kojak.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yes, I see the name-calling is checked at the door.

  58. 11:08 we happen to have the year end financials to back us up. Go pay $75.00 for it like we did.

    Prove us wrong a**hole.

i believe you have the financials.

i'm looking at my copy. can't find what you're talking about. tell us on which page, and in which paragraph, it says gibson got $600,000 or anything close to it.

i didn't know asking for proof made me an a**hole. :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. I've got my copy. There's no one page where it says that, but it's still there. Can't you add? Gibson's raking it away. That explains how he had it so readily when he decided to pay his delinquent bill!

    ReplyDelete
  61. tell me what pages and i'll add it up. it's important. if gibson's raking it in people should know.

what pages? which paragraphs. do tell!

    (if it's really there).
